“Beautiful but Expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

This resort property is located right across the street from the beautiful Huntington beach, and they offer all the amenities that you'd want in a resort. We had a nice room with a balcony that gave us a bit of an ocean view; the sliding door really helped to bring in the refreshing outdoor breeze. The price of the room was not too expensive, but the turnoffs were the resort fee (couldn't even use the pool because it was too cold outside) and the parking fee was astronomical at $35/nt. On top of that, they only offer valet parking so it was very inconvenient if you forgot something in the car (especially while traveling with children, who tend to need something that was likely left in the car). The customer service was great, which is to be expected, but nothing above-and-beyond. We only stayed one night so we didn't get to explore the vast property as we would've liked, which is why the $25 resort fee seemed even more unnecessary. Next time we'll likely stay at another hotel that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for everything. Really, you can't go too wrong with any location on the Huntington beachfront.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an ocean view

Dear GoodLife15,

Thank you for sharing feedback regarding your visit to the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa! We do have a wonderful location with a host of amenities and service available to our guests as you had suggested. The resort service fee includes a number of service privileges and we regret that you were unable to take advantage of any of them during your stay. We do hope you will give us another opportunity when visiting the Huntington Beach area in the future and truly appreciate the information you have shared.

With my best regards,

Eron Hodges

We stayed at this property for 4 nights recently and had a great time. The pools and seperate hot tub areas were wonderful, the views fantastic. The staff were always helpful and even offered to keep the pool bar open for us when everyone else left due to the cooler temps. The staff at the grocery store even tried to help with local favorite places for us to eat and visit!
The rooms were nice sized and comfortable. We had a limited view room that was even more limited due to the landscaping (although it was very well kept. We did not need to worry about the view though as the entire property had a great one so everywhere we went it was scenic.

We've stayed at this hotel on several occasions, most recently Christmas 2013.

Excellent staff, large room, beautiful grounds, and well heated pools, especially the kids pool with 3 water slides. Our 4 year old had a blast going up and down the slides.

Great location, for both the beach, as well as a short 25 minute drive to Disneyland.

Only issue was over the holidays, the hotel outsourced the breakfast to a 3rd party restaurant, due to renovations. Although the waiters/waitresses tried their best, they were clearly ill-equipped to handle the many guests. Long waits for the buffet, even though tables were empty. In the future, probably a better idea to utilize a banquet room to serve breakfast, versus the 3rd party restaurant.

We arrived on our yearly California vacation a day early and needed a room before we could check into our rental. The wife wanted a view of the ocean so I contacted the local Hyatt and they set us up with a terrific view.

Room Tip: Higher floors facing west give a great view of the Pacific Ocean with a fantastic sunset.

Loved this place! We made a very last minute decision to go to a warm place the day after Christmas. We chose this because it was warm and it was rated #1 on here. The hotel definitely didn't disappoint. It is gorgeous with two large pools located in different areas. Hot tubs galore and even three water slides for the kiddos. We have two children so the slides were definitely a plus. The grounds around the hotel are immaculate and just beautiful. There is always someone to open and greet you as you walk in the front door. Concierge was very helpful too.

There is a bridge that connects the hotel to the beach which was nice so you didn't have to worry about crossing the street like you would if you stayed at the Hilton right next door. At the end of the bridge there is always someone there with towels and chairs for you to take the beach. We definitely took chairs and towels each time we went so that was a nice added bonus.

Unfortunately when we booked the room they only had a king bed available so we got a roll away bed. We did ask for them to contact us if a double bed room became available. They did contact us when one was available which was very kind of them.

The staff at the pool restaurants were friendly and served us quickly. We enjoyed most of time at the pool and the beach. There are fire pits at the pool and near the restaurants and shopping area. You can purchase 'smores kits at the store on the property and use the fire pits to roast them. Always a plus for my kids.

We did rent a car one day and take a trip to Laguna, Newport, Balboa Island and Sunset however, Huntington Beach was by far the best place for a family. My kids can't wait to go back.

We didn't keep a car overnight in valet but I will say that $34 is pretty expensive and would be my only complaint if I did.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt for a short stay. I was very impressed with the beauty of the property, the amount of pools and pool areas and the service.
When we checked in I was upgraded to an ocean front room and was able to see the sunset from my balcony! It was quite a sight to see!
I will stay here again

Had a great time at this hotel! The restaurants and room service were all good. Staff was very friendly. Not a lack of pools and hot tubs to choose from. Very centrally located, will definitely be back. The only issue we had was with the internet. Although this was a family trip, we still need to get work done and the internet connection was slow to non-existent. Fortunately I brought my hotspot, but I am not sure how people can use it for business trips as an internet connection is essential.
