“Fantastic family hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We stayed here for a weeks relaxation at the end of a California road trip before returning to the UK. It was just what we were after. Relaxing, fun, great for children. The kids loved the slyders pool, the beach, Petes sunset grill, s'more pits. It was the perfect end to our California holiday of a lifetime and we would love to return one day. We did have a problem upon check in with our room, but this was resolved and we were offered a free meal whilst they were doing so which was much appreciate. Customer service was excellent throughout our stay.

I've always thought you can't go with a Hyatt and this one didn't disappoint.
Located adjacent to Huntingdon Beach, with its own bridge across the road to the beach, it's well located. The check-in staff were excellent and after I explained how much I enjoyed staying at Hyatts managed to find us a rate which included breakfast. The room was a very good standard overlooking a garden and the communal facilities were excellent. The pool was good and helpful staff continously walked around to ensure that our coctails - which were not overpriced - were not empty.
We were there for a Saturday evening and there was a live band playing in the area where there's lots of restaurants. The only downside would be having a room overlooking that area.
As with all these "resort hotels", internet access is free but there's a $25 / day resort fee. Plus, there's a similar daily amount to park the car. I think these are both a bit steep but it's a standard cost.
I would definitely stay there again but if you've just landed at LAX I would recommend taking a Shuttle Bus.

We spent 3 nights here, with our 2 teenage kids. We had a partial ocean view overlooking the spa grotto, and stayed in a nice room with two queen beds. The grounds are beautiful. Getting to the beach is a short walk over a bridge over the Pacific Coast Highway. On the other side, you are offered chairs, towels and umbrellas. The beach was not crowded, even when we arrived on a Sunday. Our room was comfortable and clean. We ate two nights at the Californian Restaurant. We'd like to compliment one of the chefs, Jose, who went way above and beyond the call of duty. One of my children and I have very serious food allergies. There was nothing we could eat in the restaurants. Jose went out of his way two nights in a row to prepare custom dinners for the two of us, that were out of this world. He is a consummate professional, and clearly enjoys his delicious creations. The staff here is extremely courteous and helpful, and we would definitely come back for a longer stay next time. It was a great way to relax at the end of a vacation that started in the Bay Area. We also walked down to the pier at night and around the town, it's a little over a mile each way, but we enjoy walking. Wonderful trip, thank you!

Room Tip: Partial ocean view is great!

Very nice large room with a good size balcony, the room was spotless, nice upscale furniture and bedding, huge bathroom. Everything looked just great.
The restaurant was good, but expensive.
We arrived early, and the staff at the reception told me they'd call when the room is ready, but never called. I came back to check around 4pm and my room was ready, but they forgot to call. There were a lot of extra charges (resort fee, parking fee, etc.), even though I was first told that parking was included.
I would have given it a 5 star if not for the check in experience and the ambiguity about the extra charges.

The hotel fares are not popular, but there are PROS and CONS:

PROS: beach-front close to surfing area, but far from Main Street noise/agitation, the rooms are large, nicely decorated, great views in any direction, the pools are very enjoyable, the snacks at the pool are (very) delicious, honest prices and, as a rule, very short waiting. Just a discrete hand-waving and staff comes to offer help. The hotel offers beach chairs, umbrellas and towels at the beach. The gym is high-end, spacious and spa delicious for relaxing. Massage is expensive, but a good job is done and worth. I did not find inconvenient the long distances walking from lobby to rooms as said by some other comments in Trip Advisor. As long walks as anyone can expect in any spacious beach resort. Very enjoyable stay to relax also close enough to drive LA, Disney etc.

CONS: parking is not expensive, it is an extortionate. $ 39 per day is what you expect to pay in a downtown area like San Francisco, where space is rare and awfully expensive. Since it is not at all recommended to leave your car on the streets in that area and there are no public or private safe parking in a range of a mile you are forced to pay anyway. The ‘Resort Fee’ is $ 25-day is ‘compulsory’. That means you have to accept. and If you can’t decline it should not be disguised from room rates. Tricky. Checking out at the front desk was a terrible experience since they simply declined a American Express Travel Money, which is a pre-paid credit card (electronic cash) accepted all over US (and almost worldwide) that I use for years because regular international credit cards have an extra 6,38% government fee for Brazilians. After 40 minute waiting to avoid more delays I paid cash and left. Their 'security process' can be the way they want, but while calling Amex the supervisor should avoid inconvenient loud comments like 'Sir, we have to check if this is a valid card' and 'Sir we need a credit approval'. Apologies by email were evasive. So in Huntington I suggest either to avoid this type of payment or this type of resort.

Beautiful hotel complex, extremely helpful and wonderful staff. Large and beautifully furnished rooms. The beds are soft and oh so comfortable. Like sleeping on a cloud ! Amazing beach, family oriented. Bonfires on the beach in the evening with s'mores, wow !
We had an all around great family vacation. We all wish to go back next vacation !!!
If I may just say...the price of parking is a bit high, and the TV in the room (even though we rarely watched it) could have better reception. No HD channels for the kids it seemed ???

We've been to many places in California & decided to come to Huntington Beach this time. We were recommended to the Hyatt by a friend & it was definitely the right choice. The hotel is quite large but the location is perfect. Easily accessible to the beach by a bridge over PCH, the hotel provides you chairs & umbrellas.
The rooms were great. Large, clean. The grounds were beautiful. We stayed near the koi pond which was nice. The hotel provides a shuttle to the town if you don't have a car. The city is great. Upscale surf town with some nice restaurants.
Would definitely recommend the hotel for a short or long(we stayed 5 days) stay if your headed to this beautiful part of California.
