“Once you arrive you don't need to leave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

For the past several summers we have purposely scheduled a long weekend get away to the Hyatt Regency at Huntingon Beach. We continue to return because it is one of the most comprehensive and complete facilities. First is the location. It is directly across the street from one of the most expansive stretches of beach. Highway 1 separates the hotel from the Beach. The hotel is actually positioned such that the highway is below the main level of the hotel. In addition, the hotel has its own pedestrian bridge across the highway to the beach. The beach itself features a wide and long, paved boardwalk where you can run, ride bikes, walk or just people watch. It is a very reasonable walk up the boardwalk to the city of Huntington Beach, its pier and the prime surfing areas. In addition to its location, the hotel has bike rentals as well as all other beach activity equipment available for rent. The hotel is expansive and spread out versus being a high-rise. It is very family friendly with many activities for kids and along with a relatively new kids pool compelete with waterslide. There is a comprehensive spa on site with a very complete and large fitness room. (One of the largest I have experienced at a hotel). There is fine dining available on site as well as a pizza parlor, wine bar and surf bar/restaurant. There is a small coffee shop/store featuring limited but adequte groceries/snacks. In addition, on the Friday and Saturday night we were there, each night there was a different live band playing in the Courtyard where you could eat and listen or dance to great music. We stayed in a Sunset Suite on the third floor in a corner. The pool and the beach were our view. The rooms all feature balconies where you can sit and enjoy the breeze and view. The hotel is also quiet considering it is busy and next to a highway. All of these things make it one of the most relaxing places to get away to.

Room Tip: The rooms on the southend of the property are generally populated by families with children. As all...

We haved now stayed two times at the Hyatt. The first time was so surprisingly great that I thought I would be disappointed this time. I was not. All the staff were genuine and courteous. We had a 4th floor room overlooking the spa area that had a great patio with plenty of room. Even though the hotel was at max capacity because of the surf contest, it never felt crowded. Going over to the beach is easy on the bridge and they supply chairs and towels for guests. The spa was great . I used it every day and never even got in our hotel room shower. We ate at both restaurants and found the food to be very good and the service very comfortable and efficient. We did not have our children with us, but this would be a great place to bring all ages. Lots of activities and the pools are great. It is pricey but it is worth it. It is a great splurge and We will be back.

Stayed at the Hyatt for four nights. Very nice rooms and grounds.
Two big pools. One for adults and one for kids. Very good pool service. There is fenced in grotto area with 3 spas. There is also a spa at the adult pool. Nice little shopping area with a mex restaurant, snack store and some clothing stores.
Had an ocean front room with a nice balcony but it over looks the street as well. I would go for the less expensive room that over looks one of the pool areas with the ocean view beyond pools.
The place to stay in HB for sure. Got free breakfast too

Great hotel and great location. Staff was very nice and helpful. Nice rooms and as everything you could want right at their location. Food/entertainment/beach etc. One of my favorite hotels I have been too! Doorman and entire staff were helpful, prompt. Really no bad rooms that I could tell. Bridge to beach really sets this apart from the other local hotels.

If you like to relax on the beach or at the pool - this is the perfect place. We travelled with our 3 teenagers who had their own room. When I made my reservation I requested a quiet suite - and I got the perfect room and location. I only had 4 days (which bleeds the budget pretty much) but I could really relax and refresh. Only negative point - my kids were "thrown out" of the lounge in the afternoon, they did not allow them to sit with us because they are under 21. This policy was not active anymore the other days - all other families could sit with their kids at a table in the afternoon (alcohol was available). Very stupid.
Access to the beach over the bridge is safe and easy. The pool areas are crowded but not overcrowded. Good place to stay for a few days.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay with us. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay and were able to relax.
Regarding your mention of the rules in our lounge, it is a bar meaning that you must be over 21 years old to be inside during operating hours but I agree that the enforcement of the rule needs to be consistent and I will follow up and make sure that our staff is aware.
At Hyatt we strive to provide authentic hospitality and make our guests feel at home. Thank you for choosing to stay with us on your vacation and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Stayed two nights in standard King room overlooking spa/activities area - great balcony. The hotel is spread out rather than built up so the walk from reception was longer than normal, but not outrageous. Bridge over to beach is convenient and allows for some nice views. Property has a very "resort" type feel to it; relaxed and family friendly. Nice pool area and great fitness facility. Rooms were clean and spacious - towels and TP both above average, and I always appreciate a mini-fridge, especially at higher-end properties. Nice to have a place that offers the convenience of room-service but the flexibility of the fridge for those more cost-conscious. Grocery and restaurants just .4 miles up Beach Blvd, and the hotel rents bikes. Staff was friendly from check-in to concierge to valet (Parking is $34 overnight - OUCH!). 2 free bottles of water in-room each day. Comfortable bed and easy to use temperature control. Plenty of hot water and water pressure in shower. Can't often afford this type of place on my own for business but if someone else is paying, or for vacation, I'd definitely stay again.

This has to be my favorite hotel across the U.S., having visited numerous competitors clubs. I traveled here on business a year ago, and had to take my family back given the experiences!

Upon arrival, you are pleasantly greetings by the doorman, then the same pleasantries by the front desk staff. They quickly accommodate any special requests and strive for customer service. The grounds were very clean; room passed with high marks the family and wife ‘test’. Kids loved the pools and my daughter quickly informed of the underwater speaker system! My compliments to the hotel management for excellent grounds and service throughout!

Helpful recommendations:
1) If you can select a part of the week to stay, each Tuesday is the ‘Farmers market’ on nearby Main street. HUGE party for ‘locals night’ with store’s bringing their specials with street tents, bands playing, farmers selling products, and much shopping!
2) Park across the street for $15/ day vs. the $34 required valet fee. Easy parking on the walk-across bridge and I did not experience any concerns on safety issues.
3) Use the hotel shuttle to main street, for $3 per person round-trip.
4) Use the hotel provided 2 for 1 bike coupon and bike ride to Newport beach and dog beach.
5) Hotel now provides complimentary chairs, umbrella once your walk across the bridge to the beach.
6) There are fire pits throughout the property. As you can buy the s’mores at the gift shop for $9 for 4, consider bring your own setup …kids will want ‘more and smore’.
7) Great happy hour specials pool-side at 4pm!
