“Harvey's has gone a bit downhill in 2012”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

Normally, the food at Harvey's is above par and a great value. All of our food arrived and it was well seasoned and tasted good, it's just that everything was barely above room temperature. We were very disappointed.

“Excellent Steaks & Seafood with Jazz Entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2011

Sunday, 02 October 2011 -- Debbie & I celebrated our wedding anniversary at family-owned, Harvey's Steakhouse, in Huntington Beach. I am picky when it comes to prime rib because it can be so often much less than "prime," so our waitress took me back into the kitchen to meet the chef. In front of me, he carved the perfect, center-cut slice exactly to my liking: medium-rare with the right amount of fat-marbling! Talk about wonderful, one-on-one service! My prime rib was the best I have had in a long time. Debbie ordered the Bleu Ribbon Filet Mignon that was stuffed with bleu cheese crumbles and topped with sauteed mushrooms and a Bernaise sauce. Before the main course we enjoyed the crab-stuffed mushrooms--to die for!--and a yummy Caesar salad, the REAL thing with chopped anchovies. Fresh-baked bread or rolls and butter accompanied everything else. We were too full to enjoy any desserts, but they sure looked good.

While we dined we were entertained by a live jazz singer and band. They performed jazz and pop standards from The Great American Songbook made famous by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra, et al. Such music is quickly fading into the past; performers of the jazz genre are dwindling. One may enjoy live jazz music six nights per week at Harvey's. There is also a modest dance floor next to the full-service bar for those so inclined. The entertainment is excellent but geared more toward older folks. Leave your kids at home.

All in all, Debbie & I shared a very pleasant and romantic evening together. We highly recommend Harvey's Steakhouse for fine dining and live entertainment. You won't find many tourists, if any at all, at Harvey's, unless they're guests of locals, but you may find some famous jazz musicians who may drop by from time to time. We hope you find Harvey's Steakhouse to be a local gem like we did--and continue to do! We will be back often.

“Outdated style and food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2008

If you are in your 60's or 70's, this is the place for you. The food is retro-comfort, i.e. you get the cubed carrot, peas, and green bean medley in a little melmac bowl on your plate. Appetizer tray of pickles and relish, and rolls that take you back to your cafeteria days. We've been here twice, and both times, our food was "nice" but unimaginative. We ended up here due to last minute holiday cancellations and no where else to go. The one nice thing about the bar is that they do know what a whiskey sour or Manhattan is. On the flip side, don't try to order any contempory martinis. They don't have the mixers. Also, avoid any seat near the open patio or front - you'll get cigarette smoke wafting into your food. Very child friendly, though. Almost too child friendly, especially if you want a "quiet" meal.
