My husband and I have been coming to The Swiss Lakewood for more than thirty years. It is housed in an absolutely charming Swiss chalet, complete with large stone fireplace and roaring fire. This restaurant has been operating on the lake for more than fifty five years. It has undergone a few ownership changes over the years. Albert and Helga Marty owned and operated the restaurant for thirty years. Albert refined their marvelous Swiss cuisine into an art form. They sold the restaurant a few years back and it is now run and operated by Tahoe local Rick Brown, who has been up on the lake for years and successfully managed Sunnyside restaurant -- also on the west shore of Lake Tahoe.
While it has changed some from Albert and Helga's day, it still retains some of Albert's wonderful recipes, including Veal Emincee and Weinerschnitzel and a marvelous Grand Mariner soufflé. Rick has added new items to the menu, good fish entrees among other items, and kept the menu fresh, updated and exciting, while still maintaining the old charm. Not an easy task. This is still a restaurant where you have a "dining experience".
