We felt like we were taking our chances booking this little spot in Lake Tahoe while attending a wedding down the road. Turns out it was the cutest little hospitable place we've been to. The website doesn't really do it justice so I thought it necessary to write a full review.
Lou runs the place and greeted us as we arrived. He's an older gentleman with a heart of gold and passion for his property in Lake Tahoe. We stayed in the Secret Harbor bedroom consisting of one queen bed and a 1/2 bath with a sink outside of the bathroom. If you're looking for a spacious vanity space you won't find it in this room. However, the rustic cabin feel made me adjust quickly to the limited amenities. It was so cozy.
The carpet throughout the lodge is the softest I've ever put my bare feet on and it's throughout the property sans the bathrooms. Our water pressure was great in the shower, the windows open in the bedrooms for the lake breeze at night, the feather bed (a feather bed!) was actually delightful and the sheets soft.
Lou's breakfasts were gourmet and his company so sweet. He knows everything about the area. The place is quiet and clean as a whistle!
The location was perfect for the wedding we had at West Shore Inn, and it's right across from the General Store which makes the most awesome sandwiches, but don't expect the staff there to move quickly. I think it's a Lake Tahoe thing. Everyone is a little bit lax in their movements, but it's a nice change in pace from the city life.
We took advantage of all sorts of activities in the area. Hiking, biking, river rafting. It was great location.
Overall a really nice stay.
