In June, my wife and I were traveling from Carmel-by-the-Sea to Yosemite. As we made the drive, my wife texted a friend in Nashville who grew up in Monterey. She suggested that we stop at Casa De Fruta. From the billboards, I was thinking to myself that this is just another "tourist trap" that would delay our arrival in Yosemite, but I decided it could serve as a rest stop.
So I pulled off the road and we made what I had hoped would be a brief stop. We ended up buying a large variety of Almonds, fresh strawberries and bing cherries for us and many jars of preserves for family back in Tennessee. We also had to get honey straws for her friend. Before we left, I was wondering if the jars would push our luggage over the weight limit for our flight home.
We enjoyed the fruit and almonds for the next several days as we snacked on them while exploring Yosemite. If I ever find myself traveling near that area, I will stop again. This makes a great rest stop and a nice place to buy high quality fresh produce.
