Being Italian myself, finding delicious authentic Italian food in California is surprisingly NOT easy. It is especially difficult in the South Bay. With its chocolate brown and white interior, flowing white gauze curtains, and old school candle lit tables, this setting is perfect for a romantic dinner. But if you're flying solo and like eye candy, the gorgeous Italian waiters (mainly from Rome Italy) will keep you occupied and smiling throughout the night. I didn't know what was more delicious, the men serving me or the dishes I was eating. If you're in a nibbling mood, they are known for their cheese and cut meat appetizer - enjoy with wine, and you'll have a one hour experience that you'll savour every minute of. The fresh pasta was very impressive and of high quality and the wine list is impressive. If you've eaten at LA's Toscana, this is comparable for price, staff, and food. Very impressive for a little restaurant in Hermosa Beach!

I have eaten at La Sosta at least 20 times and it is an extraordinary restaurant. The wine list is impeccable as is the tirimisu. The langostine with garlic, olive oil and parsley is mind boggling and the pappardelle with duck ragu stunning. Start with the meat and cheese board served with great bread, olive oil and often truffle relish and fig jam. The owner Luca is friendly and loves to visit and the twin brother waiters knowledge of the menu is fantastic.

We dined at La Sosta for the first time a couple of months ago. It was one of the worst dining experiences in the South Bay in many years. I ordered the Langoustines that were not fresh. As dessert I tried the Tiramisu that was rancid I will never go back despite some good reviews on Chowhound

Amazing, authentic little northern Italian spot with stylish ambiance. You're transported to Amalfi coast. Get the cutting board, lobster gnocchi and if they have it, the braised pork shoulder. Outstanding as an intimate special occasion place. It's very small, so book in advance. By far, one of the best dining experiences to be found in not just the South Bay, but all of LA.
