“Comfortable, clean, convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We wanted to spend one day at the beach before heading back East after a business trip and we could not have chosen a nicer place.

The rooms are clean, comfortable and well equipped. There is even a small secondary sink next to the microwave so you can rinse off sandy clothes or shoes without messing up the tub. The bed was very comfortable.

Took us 20 minutes to drive to LAX on local roads on Sunday morning, which is a real plus. The beach is one-half block away and the main business district nearly at the doorstep. Many nice eateries, etc.

The front desk staff helpful and friendly. This is a nice place. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the area.

We just left a four day stay at the Grandview Inn (we would guess this is a three star hotel). We were vey satisfied and thought it was very clean and comfortable. The room had all of the necessities, was spacious enough and seemed to have been recently renovated. The parking garage downstairs was well lit and a safe place to park a car (with surprisingly wide parking spots).

The Grandview is half a block from the beach (diagonal from The Beach House) which is a perfect location to walk everywhere. While it was certainly not as fancy as The Beach House (which we thought was probably a four star hotel) it was a great value at half the price. We would definitely stay here again.

The inn appears to be family owned by Amish Desai. The reservation process was an indication of the poor management. I requested a change of dates and it was blown off. Reviews here about the front desk staff being bad are true. The attitude is poor and indifferent. Very little regard for guests. All money is paid up front and there is a lot of fine print. If you have any possible issues you could lose your money.
We requested Manny (appears to be live-in manager) to get our boarding passes, which he said he would do. When we returned he said he completely forgot. His attitude was indifferent. When we asked for a final bil he was rude and disrespectful to my wife.
There is a stagnant smell of food cooking in the rear of the inn. The front has windows which were kept open and odor was not as bad.
The room (244) was modern and nice. Towels on first day were OK but on second day were stained. We were not near the ice machine, but it was noisy and right outside the doors of other rooms.

Ground floor is parking, which was OK.
First floor rooms are where manager lives and a bell outside the room for service.
Second floor is where we stayed. 244 is not ocean view but has a balcony and partial view of town. Elevator is tiny and painfully slow.

If not for the management I would return. The location is nice.

Room Tip: Rooms in front may be noisy. Rooms in back may smell like curry. Middle, 2nd floor is best.

Overall nice room with a few comments. First location is very good - less than two minutes walk to beach. Street is quiet. Next door there is fantastic rental shop for bikes, boogie boards ($5 per hour!!) and other water / beach items. Also there is town grocery on corner and Starbucks nearby. Beaches spotless and well maintained. Must return!

This hotel is clean, modern and updated. One suggestion to management is to convince or pay neighbor to remove rusting / unsightly junk on roof. For rate paid an eyesore for "ocean view" rooms.

Front desk was rather inflexible at times - same guy always on duty seemed to be dead asleep when we rang the buzzer even during middle of day or out smoking on sidewalk. Not what I expect for this rate. Also to housekeeping when new towels requested standard is not to leave used used ones heaped on floor to next day but to properly remove.

If I had the budget I'd stay at the nearby Beach House - maybe next time or life.

The Grandview Inn offers a great location, with updated spacious rooms and free overnight parking at a fraction of the cost of similar properties, where parking is twenty four dollars or more per night for hotel guests. With this location, the beach, restaurants, clubs and shopping were all within walking distance, but even so, the parking arrangement was extremely convenient for those picking us up and dropping us off for the events leading up to and including a family wedding in nearby Redondo Beach.

We had a less than 24 hour layover in Los Angeles so we chose to stay at Grandview Inn for the night. We chose Grandview Inn for the location -- a block from the beach and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Now we know it is more than just a great location, the owners and staff were outstanding!

We had just arrived from Tokyo so we asked if a late check-out would be possible. The young man working the desk said he could extend the check-out to noon, and that he would contact the owner first thing in the morning if a later time was possible. The next day the owner offered us the room for a small fee per hour up until 4pm -- THAT made our day. When we checked-out at 3pm, the owner graciously waived the late check-out fee! What a wonderful gesture of hospitality and kindness. We have stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and not many make this kind of impact on me. Thank you, Grandview Inn.

This newly renovated hotel is perfectly positioned near the beach and pier for amazingly easy access to Hermosa Beach. The interior of the hotel is sleek and stylish, and quality materials were used in construction. Our ocean view room was spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the price was just right for all the hotel has to offer. We'll definitely stay again!

Room Tip: If you plan an evening out on the patio, upgrade to the ocean view.
