“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Spent 3 nights at this little tucked away gem and loved it. The rooms are newly remodeled with a contemporary, high end look. Comfy beds, nice bedding, and relaxing rain-shower shower head gave this hotel room a spa like quality, not to mention all of the ammenities provdied. What really made this a great stay was the location, a few steps from the strand, and the great beach of Hermosa. We never needed a car, everything we needed was within walking distance. The family that runs this hotel were freindly, and always there for any assistance. They seemed to really care about their guests, and made us feel welcome. I will be back!

First of all, if available, get an ocean view room. It is worth the extra money and will make your stay far more pleasant. The location of this hotel can't be beat. The ocean, restaurants, entertainment (including the Comedy and Magic Club) are an easy walk. The room was very clean and large. It contained a microwave, coffee maker, fridge and sink, which made the room very practical for having breakfast and snacks in the room. The decor isn't fancy, but it's new and has a sleek, modern look. The staff takes the no smoking policy very seriously (a room full of twenty-somethings was being scolded and threatened with a $500 fine when we checked in). I would have liked to have had a cigar on the balcony, but that's why the hotel is so clean and smells so nice. Overall, this hotel makes for a wonderful stay on Hermosa Beach.

My husband and I (well travelled seniors) stayed in an ocean view room at the Grandview Inn for 2 nights in June, 2012 and recommend it highly! It has been recently totally renovated in modern, excellent taste throughout. Extremely well located just a few steps from the beach and boardwalk, close to restaurants yet a very quiet location. Staff is very helpful, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in room, and free parking which is a real bonus. We usually stay at the Hermosa Beach House which was fully booked this time, and the Grandview was the perfect alternative. Not quite as luxurious, but neither are the prices! A great find, to be repeated for sure. There is no pool or restaurant, but that's not a problem unless you expect it.

Room Tip: Ocean side, second floor is quiet with great view.

Our room was small but obviously recently renovated and included a small 'fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The decor is trendy modern/industrial but perhaps less functional than stylish (I'm looking at you, tiny bathroom sink). The place is apparently family run and you never know who you'll find at the front desk. Parking was a bit inconvenient because the small garage is double parked at night, and you may need to leave your car keys at the desk or wait to get your car in the morning.

The best thing about this place is it's location right off the beach and in the heart of downtown Hermosa Beach. All things considered it was a successful stay and the staff was friendly enough. If you're in town to relax and enjoy the beach and immune to the whole L.A. rush-hour-got-to-get-ahead mentality you'll find the Grandview to be good bargain.

Room Tip: Turn up the AC fan at night to drown out the city noise if you can't get an ocean view room.

This was our first stay at the Grandview. We usually stay at the Beach House or the Hermosa Inn. The Grandview was so awesome. We had an ocean front room for half the price of the Beach House. The staff was extremely nice...the location is AT THE BEACH, and the room and all its amenities were perfect. We highly recommend this cute little hotel and can't wait to go back.

This hotel is the perfect choice for Hermosa Beach, CA. Large rooms with flat panel tv's, directv, patio, comfortable beds, sink, microwave, and mini-fridge. I stayed for the month of May and really enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel and being walking distance from the pier. The rooms were clean, the staff was very accomodating, and there was covered parking. Some of the reviews complained about the parking as I think there is only 1 spot per room, but I never had an issue. If the garage was full, you just double park and leave your keys with the front desk. I had an issue the first night because i was in the room right next to the front desk. It was kind of loud because I think the night shift stays in the room behind the front desk, which is more of an apartment. The next day, without me even asking, they asked if I would like to move to the 2nd floor since I am there long term. I went to work, and when I returned they had moved all of my stuff (which was a lot) up to my new room. A couple nights the staff even offered me dinner as they had cooked extra. I was there by myself so it was great to not have to eat out for a couple of nights and the food was incredible. I felt they were very personable and friendly everytime I saw the staff, including maintenance, front desk, and management.
As for the location, I don't really need to reiterate what others have said. It is near everything, bars, restaurants, shopping, etc. If you have a little extra money, I recommend the ocean view rooms, but the others are just as nice (minus the view). While you are there, check out playitas next door, Naja's at Redondo Pier (over 100 beers on tap), Umame Burger, and the bars at the pier. Enjoy your travels.

Room Tip: Go with 2nd Floor (which is actually the 3rd) ocean view. you won't be disappointed.
