I had just come in from the east coast, just checked out of my nightmare of a hotel and needed a clean snug place to stay on less than short notice. I quickly made a reservation for the Sea Sprite sight-unseen, and it absolutely saved my vacation.

My room was clean, snug, had a beautiful beach view and a little kitchenette. It reminded me of the quaint sea side inns along the coast of Maine. The staff was friendly and very helpful, steering me to a wonderful farmer's market, a wonderful fresh seafood market and even lending me a saute pan when the one from my kitchen was missing.

This hotel was not fancy or plush, just good, decent, clean lodging at a very fair price. Should I find myself in Hermosa Beach again, I would definitely stay here.

A friend recommended this hotel to me a couple of months ago and I decided to book a room there in order to be close to the beach. The outside of the hotel is a little rough - and reminded me of those old roadside hotels from the 1950. Inside it wasn't fancy, but it was clean and comfortable and the helpful staff had good recommendations for shopping and restaurants. If you're looking for plush accomodations, you would probably be happier elsewhere. But if you want a clean, comfortable place to lay your head at night; this is a nice hotel at a nice price, and for that reason I definitely recommend it.

We have stayed at the Seasprite many times and have had a great time. This is an older property and I would never ever stay there in a regular city, but this place is right on the beach and there is only one other option and it is very expensive if you are staying more then a few nights. Our rooms have always been clean and have had great views. The alley can be a little loud and it can be a bit smelly at times, but this alley also goes right behind the Beach House, so same thing? We love it in Hermosa Beach and love staying at the Sea Sprite. We pretty much just shower and sleep there. You are at the beach, go enjoy it! I do occasionally call them before hand and double check our reservations because of previous posters having problems with reservations. That being said, we've never lost money there either, so I am sure we would feel differently if that had happened to us. I guess staying on the beach is worth the risk for the great location that the Sea Sprite offers!

This reservation was a disaster! They don't accept credit card reservations so a consumer lacks protection. We cancelled our reservation over four months prior to our stay and never received a penny back from nearly $500. I reported them to the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and the attorney general. Manager John's initial response was "Well, OUR books say..." He asked for proof. Phone logs were sent to the attorney general as proof of the calls and the management still denies that the reservation was cancelled because
"that's not what our books say." This is absolutely unacceptable in today's world. Avoid this motel/apartment. There's no sense in risking the financial loss. Obviously they have incompetent help and their books are a mess.
