We went on a Friday night, but early enough to beat the crowd. Noisy, but that's okay. We expected that for a family chain restaurant. We sat, and sat, and sat before our server, Quona, showed up to take our drink order. We sat, and sat, and sat while we waited for our drink order. Same for dinner, same for check after. Quona was very cordial, and she has a beautiful smile, but what we noticed is that while all the other servers were busting their hind ends, practically on a dead run, to make sure their customers were served, Quona was nowhere to be seen, and was very relaxed, almost sauntering between tables as though she were on a stroll. The people behind us and across the aisle who came in after us had their dinner before we even had our drinks. The food was all right but pricey for what we got. We ordered the two for twenty. Both of us got the 7 oz steak. My husband's steak was overcooked and a bit tough. Mine was tender enough, but nothing special. Veggies were overcooked and cold. We ordered the boneless chicken wings as an app. Came to us cold, and WAY overbreaded. After we were done with our meal and we sat, and sat, waiting for Quona to show up, she finally came by for the FIRST time since we'd been served to see if our food was okay. That was the only time she checked on us the entire time we were there! She was surprised that we were finished. "Done all ready?" she asked. "We've been done for more than ten minutes. Can we have our check please?" Now, once again, I have to stress that Quona was very nice, very personable, but she needs to move faster and pay better attention to her customers. The topper is that Quona (as well as the other servers, not to single her out or to be unfair) are evidentially coached to ask customers to go online and fill out a survey a good rating. Of course we were not about to go online and give Applebee's Hemet store or Quona a great rating. I'm sorry, folks, but begging for a great review, or asking your employees to beg for a great review, is simply tacky. Overall, the experience was mediocre at best, and with drinks, tip and tax, expensive. For the same price, and better food and service, we'll go to a good locally owned steakhouse next time.
