“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

We read the good reviews on Tripadvisor and I figured this place would be nice enough for a one night, quick trip up from the East Bay to Healdsburg. We were so disappointed. We pre-paid $227 for a two queen bed room. I didn't figure it was going to be spectacular, but the pictures looked so nice. I guess I didn't realize there was a renovated section of the hotel and another "run-down" section. We had a "Wine Tasting Room." Can't imagine how much the renovated - think they call them "Tuscan" rooms - must have cost for the night we stayed.

The room was not much more than an old motel room. The room had no natural light whatsoever, but a bright hallway light peeked through the shades all night - making me think it was 8 a.m. at 4:30 a.m.. I would say the room was quite clean, as it generally was, however we did find rather bright red looking bloodstains on the sheets, along with an unknown dark hair. That was pretty disconcerting. The furniture was old and ugly - the chair reminded us of those chairs you see in an oncologist's office where patients get chemo. The bathroom sink, counter, and toilet could have used an upgrade. Just a bummer of a room.

For $227, I was really disappointed...oh well. At least it was just a one night stay. I didn't actually see any of the renovated rooms, but if you were intending to stay here, I'd be sure you are booked into one of those unless you don't mind getting a low budget motel room for your good money.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer,

Thank you for completing a Trip Advisor survey regarding your recent stay at our property.

On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not meeting or exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future.

I was very disturbed to see the picture of what appears to be a blood stain on the sheet in your guest room bed. That is totally unacceptable! The housekeeping staff most certainly knows better. I also am very disappointed this happened to you and will be discussing this situation with our Executive Housekeeper. I can assure you this is a rare occurrence, as this type of incident is out of the ordinary. In order for me to conduct my investigation thoroughly, would you please e-mail to me the night of your stay and room number. My e-mail address is aaron@drycreekinn.com. Rest assured, I will get to the bottom of this problem and take the appropriate action.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your comments with Trip Advisor. Your comments are appreciated as we do take them very seriously. With comments like yours we are able to take corrective action, so an event of this nature does not happen again and our future guests are completed satisfied.

I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.

Sincerely,

I was in charge of planning a 3 night stay for our wine club and we're based out of Palm Beach County, FL. There were 12 of us on this trip and coming from across the country I was nervous about pleasing that many personalities when choosing our accommodations. I think some of my travel companions were also a little nervous about me being in charge. We drove from San Francisco through some gorgeous countryside and were so pleased to find this hotel just seconds from the highway exit, so convenient. The staff at the desk were very busy but they took the time to greet us warmly and help us in a timely fashion, very professional and friendly.

The rooms were well equipped and clean, easy to get to and from the car and plenty of parking near the room. The location of the hotel to the adorable town of Healdsburg is perfect and made for an excellent morning/evening walk for dinner or even a walk through the park in the center of town. The hotel itself has a group dining room where they serve breakfast every morning and outside of this room is a gathering space with tables, chairs, fountains and a fire pit. Each evening the 12 of us would gather around the fire pit and open bottles of wine from the days excursions into the vineyards. Instead of the staff coming round to ask us to keep it down they came by and asked if they could bring us wine glasses instead of us drinking from the plastic room cups, ha!
Overall a beautiful property, friendly staff, great accommodations and completely reasonable on the bank account. We had fun!

Our stay was outstanding!! The staff was very helpful, the pool and spa were
clean, the breakfast was good, and best of all was the location: Within minutes of the Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley and the Russian River Valley. We plan on returning to wine country and will definitely stay at the Dry Creek Inn.

The rooms were fantastic. Beautiful spa tub, fireplace, balcony overlooking beautiful courtyard with fountains. Continental breakfast was very good. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. Overall, a very enjoyable hotel experience.

Room Tip: There is an older part of the hotel and a newer more refined part of the hotel. Be sure to check in...

This hotel was good value and featured spacious, comfortable, motel-style rooms. The location was the perfect base for exploring the sights of Sonoma and Napa. The free breakfast provided was extremely basic.

We stayed two nights in late March. One night in the upgraded Tuscan room and one night in a standard room. The Tuscan room was fine, but the standard room faced the parking lot on the ground floor and had the feel of a Motel 6. It was hard to sleep at night because you could hear every conversation and car parking in the parking lot, including a loud group of people who where yelling in the parking lot in the middle of the night.

If you go, be sure to ask for extra towels upfront. There were only two in the room, and if you use the big tub with jets in the Tuscan room, you'll likely need more.

Room Tip: Book the Tuscan not the standard room.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer:

Thank you for completing a Trip Advisor review regarding your most recent stay at our property.

Your comments are most valuable in order too find out what likes and dislikes with our hotel features are acceptable to our guests.

I am happy to read you enjoyed staying in one of our Luxury Tuscan rooms on your second evening. These rooms are most certainly upgraded from our standard Vintage style rooms, with fireplaces, private balconies, jetted tubs and more. Even though our Vintage rooms are typical standard hotel rooms with exterior corridors, they are not comparable in anyway to a budget style motel. I regret you felt this way.

With respect to the over night noise in the parking lot, I apologize if some of our other guests were rude and not thoughtful of others trying to sleep. We do have polices in place to mitigate this problem, as we do not tolerate this behavior. However, due to the location of the lobby we can only respond when notified by other guests. Then the appropriate action can be taken by our team.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Your comments are truly appreciated.

We look forward to serving you again in the near future.

Sincerely,

Aaron Krug

We needed a place to spend the night in early March and Healdsburg was the last location before it got too dark in a hard rain to travel further north on Hwy 101. I inquired about the room rate and were given a modest rate for the older section and a higher rate for the newer section of the hotel. To secure the up-sell, the evening clerk advised us that the older section of the property is "equivalent to a two-star hotel". This comment made be cautious because the difference in rate in the off-season was significant. However, we were tired and needed to get off the highway so we took the higher-priced room. Once there, we noticed the deadbolt would not work and requested another room. A maintenance person was sent over and agreed the dead-bolt would not work, so we were offered a choice of another room. Even the maintenance staff person recommended the higher-priced room was much better than the rooms in the older part of the property. We spent the night and paid the price and got less than we expected for the money. Everyone was up-selling at this property. We were disappointed.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer,

Thank you for completing a Trip Advisor review regarding your most recent stay at our property.

On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not meeting or exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future.

In speaking with my staff, I understand you upgraded to one of our Luxury Tuscan rooms, after the deadbolt did not operate properly in the original standard Vintage room. I regret the new Tuscan Luxury room failed to meet your expectations. These rooms have many more upgrades than our standard Vintage rooms and most our customers enjoy them greatly. For example; our Luxury Tuscan rooms all have a fireplace, private balconies, and a jetted tubs just to name a few.

Being we are located in the romantic Sonoma Wine Country, we do have our guest service agents offer these rooms to our guests first. Those who want a little more luxury and upgraded amenities choose these rooms and love them.

With this in mind, it is a common practice for a business like ours to up sell our product. I regret if you were offended by this common business practice. However, this procedure falls within our company policy.

I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to write your review.

Sincerely,
