“Spacious, beautiful and perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Spent 3 nights at the Healdsburg Inn and truly enjoyed it. Room was spacious and bright. Checking was quick and through. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and the hotel upgraded our room to King spa. Coffee was available just outside our door each morning, and a delicious breakfast was served. Loved the casserole! Afternoon time was wine sampling with cheese and crackers. Very little noise was heard from outside on the square. Very convenient to restaurants and tasting rooms.

First time to Healdsburg, epic wine adventure. Loved the town, rooms were very pricey but I think lodging in this town is limited so you pay a premium. Staff was warm and friendly, facilities nice, breakfast and afternoon wine reception enjoyable. Location is right in the middle of town, walking distance to all shops, restaurants, tasting rooms, GREAT location.

Only complaint was that we stayed in Room 4 and the shower was the same size as one in a motorhome.....hard to shampoo your hair without hitting your elbow on the soap dish, ouch!

Room Tip: My mom stayed in Room 3, larger room with huge jacuzzi tub and shower.

We stayed here because we were traveling with a group of friends who had booked at this Inn. The only negative that I have is that the price is quite steep at $375 plus per night with a two night minimum on weekends. That said, we found the Healdsburg Inn On The Square to be a lovely and relaxing getaway. The Inn is about 100 years old and has been restored with just the right amount of historic charm and modern amenities. The breakfast was very good and the service was wonderful during our entire stay. The staff was always friendly and very helpful. Our room on the second floor overlooked the town square which is generally packed with tourists during the day but very quiet at night. On Sunday morning, we woke to find an antique flea market going on in the square which reminded me a lot of weekend flea markets in Europe. There are many fantastic restaurants and boutiques within easy walking distance of the hotel. It's central location and easy access to the highway make it a great place to use as a base to explore the northern part of the Napa Valley where there are many fantastic wineries.

Room Tip: We loved room #10 which is a good size with a very comfortable bed.

Healdsburg is the perfect place to stay to experience Sonoma. The Inn is small, only 12 rooms but is extremely quaint and cozy. The staff also makes you feel like your right at home. Evening wine and cheese reception was a nice touch.
Some of the best restaurants and tasting rooms in Sonoma are also all in walking distance to this property.

We planned a last minute trip and booked this hotel two days before. We were given a first floor room behind reception. Not enough good things to outweigh the bad about this place. We left early and didn't bother to spend the night instead headed straight to San Francisco for the night.

Good
- Nice wine and cheese reception
- Nice decor
- Room was clean
- Front desk receptionist was nice

Bad
- Parking is extra
- Our room was behind reception so we could hear their conversation in our room. We figured the opposite was probably true we didn't feel we had any privacy at all
- From our room we can hear everyone coming in and out including loud drunken inconsiderate guests
- There was an overwhelming smell of something cooking coming into the room. We think it was from the restaurant behind the hotel. It was not pleasant and all I was happy to leave the room.
- Not the hotel's fault, but there was an obnoxious (AND DRUNK!) group of middle aged people who commandeered the lounge and wine bottles at wine reception (half the group was not even staying at the hotel) This group was terrible and practically ruined our stay and one of the reasons we decided to leave early.

Healdsburg is a fine little town during the day. We came to ride our bikes around Alexander Valley which was a lot of fun. At night, however, the streets sort of turned into a drunken college town. We saw at least three groups of people stumbling or being helped along the sidewalks.

We'll come to Healdsburg again for a day but won't spend the night.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the street probably will not have that restaurant odor we had in room 1. First floo...

This hotel has been on our radar for years. We've read countless articles on how wonderful & charming it is so we finally booked a room. Upon check in, with confusion about the parking arrangements, some of the "charm" faded quickly. However, we quickly forgot about this & proceeded to enjoy the charming town which is well worth the trip. At 6:30a.m. The next morning, we were awakened by the awful odor of onions cooking! We were in room #6 on the second floor which is in close proximity to the "kitchen" where the staff prepares breakfast & an afternoon snack (Note: ALL of the rooms on the second floor are near the kitchen). It was so bad, I started gagging before leaving the bed. We quickly got dressed & walked out of the hotel. As we exited the hotel on the first floor, we noticed the onion odor was just as bad as upstairs. We then spent the next couple of hours wandering around town seeking a room for our final night in Healdsburg. Since this is August & their busiest season, it wasn't easy. We were delighted to secure a cottage @ Healdsburg Modern Cottages! They had a last minute cancellation - thank heavens! The thought of spending another night at the Healdsburg Inn was unbearable.
The icing on the cake was talking to the manager @ the Healdsburg Inn. A young woman with absolutely no customer service skills. I explained how sick I was & told her we had to leave. She said no one had complained before. So? She then said that the early check out fee was $100. However, she was going to reduce that to $50. I told her that in light of what happened, we weren't paying. She reluctantly took the charge off the bill. She didn't apologize for the situation or try to remedy it in any way. All for $400+ a night! Avoid this place!

Healdsburg Inn is top notch - well done and perfectly executed. It provides a perfect blend of a small, intimate inn with the understated elegance of a sophisticated boutique hotel. The location is perfect, and the amenities are lovely. It is now our go-to location in that part of the Sonoma wine valley.
