“Great Place in a Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

This was our first trip to wine country and we are very glad we chose to stay in Healdsburg at this property. First, the town of Healdsburg is wonderful, small and walkabout with many excellent restaurants, a cool grocery store (Oakville Grocery), boutiques and shops, a small park and plenty of tasting rooms. We loved that we could come back after a day of exploring, unwind at the wine happy hour and then walk to any number of terrific restaurants.
The property is RIGHT on the plaza so convenient to all of Healdsburg. Parking was extra but we were able to get a space and it was close to our room. We stayed in 2, downstairs, which was small but well appointed. I was worried about noise but never heard a thing. It was beastly hot when we were there (90s) and our room was very comfortable. Staff was great answering questions and provided extra hangers at a moments notice.
The breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular but one morning when we got up late, they were out of one dish. The person in the kitchen offered to make me waffles. No non-milk products so I had to avoid granola and got my coffee at Oakville. We hit the wine happy hour twice, met some nice people and enjoyed the drinks and snacks.
I would definitely recommend this place (and Healdsburg) as a great base for exploring Sonoma. We also visited the Gaige House in Glen Ellen and would consider staying there next time due to the pool.

This is our 4th time at the Inn. It is a lovely old Victorian style small hotel. We love that it is right on the square and across the street from the park. The first time we stayed there was about 8 years ago. It was almost new and newly remodeled. Everything was fresh, clean and beautiful. It is starting to show some wear and probably should have a little paint on the outside and small cosmetic work done on the inside. But, you feel comfortable and welcomed as soon as you enter. The staff is friendly, helpful and very efficient. The cocktail hour is very nice with small bites and sometimes hot appetizers. The breakfast is very good. Always a warm quiche type dish, with fruit, scones, toast and cereal. The people preparing the food are also very friendly and more than willing to help in any way. The rooms are very nice and roomy. We like a corner room in front to see all the action and have windows on two sides. The bed is very comfortable with nice linens. We had a fireplace in our room that was nice to knock off the morning chill if you wanted. The fireplace rattled after awhile, but, I'm sure the staff will take care of the problem. It was lovely that they supplied cards for free or 2 for 1 tasting at many of the wineries. All in all you can't go wrong with the Healdsburg Inn. We will return!

Room Tip: Some rooms are small. Ask for a larger room. Corner rooms have windows on two sides.

We had 3 rooms for 3 days to celebrate a special family occasion. We could not have picked a better place to celebrate - both the Inn and the charm of being in Healdsburg. Staff were friendly and very helpful in planning our outings. The breakfast / wine room made a great gathering and visiting place for our group of 7.

Room Tip: Room #6 is lovely and overlooks the square.

I loved the convenience of this hotel. We were able to walk to 20 plus wine tasting rooms. There is a summer concert in the park that we were able to
listen to in our room with the windows open and facing the square. Make sure to go to Ferrari-Carano tasting room and be served by Alan. He will make your day. The town of Healdsburg is fun!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the square

We had the studio King Room which was through the hotel lobby, out the back door, up a flight of steps. It was tucked away with a small private porch. Had a bedroom in front with TV/fireplace, a full eat-in kitchen, separate massive Jacuzzi tub room, and a bathroom in the back with a shower. It was pretty much an apartment. It's right on the square, parking was ample (we visited beginning of May). They had a breakfast room which was very bright and nice with breads, muffins, an egg dish. It was ok. It was free! The employees in the lobby were super young but seemed efficient and were very friendly. They had a great special, the second night was half off. Unfortunately, I had to cancel one night and I think their regular nightly rate is quite high at over $300. But it was in a very convenient location.

Room Tip: The Studio King was like an apartment with full kitchen, separate Jacuzzi room and small private pat...

Healdsburg Inn on the Plaza may be the perfect place to stay in wine country. Healdsburg Plaza is quaint with lots of restaurants and shops. The Healdsburg Inn is right on the plaza, but is also a quiet sanctuary. We stayed in the Studio Apartment that had its own gate and was secluded and private. The room itself had a kitchen with small dining table, jacuzzi tub, and a fireplace in the bedroom area. It also had a private balcony with a table and chairs. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was delicious - the perfect way to start a day of wine tasting.

Room Tip: The Studio Apartment was great - very quiet and secluded but close enough to enjoy the inn as well.
