“First B&B - Take a chance and you won't want to leave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

My husband and I had the most amazing time! It was our first B&B we have ever stayed at and we just loved it. Jerry was the sweetest and made us feel like royal guests. The breakfast was out of this world - so much to eat and 5 start service. We loved happy hour and sitting outside relaxing, listening to music, and talking with other guests. Jerry will help you find anything to do and offers so much to help out.
The rooms are clean - we stayed in the French room (so big!). The house is so cute and has a Euro feel to it!
It's close to town (5 mins) so easy to drive to for food and to wine trips.
We would go back tomorrow if we could and we were sad to leave! I would recommend ANYONE to stay here that is has been to B&B, NEVER been to a B&B, or just looking for something new. It's relaxing, romantic, friendly, clean, tasteful, and over the top hospitality!

My husband and I recently spent two wonderful nights at Bella Villa Messina. We stayed in the Sake room which had the most wonderfully comfortable bed. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The house is incredible and furnished with an amazing collection of antiques and collectibles. Jerry and Harold invite you into their home and treat you like royalty. I felt so at home and relaxed. Their three terriers are adorable and we enjoyed having them around. Jerry is so helpful. He made recommendations on a restaurant for dinner and even made the reservations for us. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of fresh fruit, mimosas, spinach frittata, scrambled eggs with shiitake mushrooms and cheese and bacon. We were also fortunate to have Harold's freshly baked bread! We woke up to the smell of coffee and bacon. What could be better? The wine reception included a wonderful zin, several cheeses, nuts and olives. We were able to sit with Jerry and Harold and enjoy a glass of wine and just chat. They have fascinating and entertaining stories to tell. We cannot wait to return again and enjoy their wonderful hospitality. We felt so pampered. This is truly an amazing place.

"Hello! You're just in time for cocktail hour," Jerry smiled as he opened the door. He and Harold (and their dogs and llamas) provided the finest bed-and-breakfast experience of my life. You won't find better food, or a better view, in California. Need a vineyard recommendation? Jerry will map out your day. Hungry or thirsty? You can't beat his Hawaiian French toast at breakfast, or cheese spread at cocktail hour. The rooms are spotless, and worth every penny. You will leave a happier person. And well-fed. I have never stayed at a more accommodating, inviting, and loving place. We will be back.

Room Tip: The Burgundy Room upstairs offers a fireplace and a roomy bathroom with a hot tub. The rooms are tid...

Bella Villa Messina is an outstanding home to return to following a day of exploration and discovery in amazing Sonoma County. The house is magnificent, beautifully furnished, and has amazing views. Jerry is very accommodating. Ask him for advice on where to go and what and whom to see-he seems to know everyone in Healdsburg and the three surrounding valleys.

One of Jerry's very thoughtful practices is not setting an exact seating time for breakfast, but instead being ready to finish preparation and to serve whenever guests appear-no need to set an alarm or to keep a schedule as long as you can get yourself to the dining room by 10:00am. We especially enjoyed Hawaiian French Toast, Beignet Pancakes, and Eggs Benedict, all perfectly prepared.

Jerry provides a daily wine and cheese hour where he asks how our days went; so, with this daily freshening of his knowledge you can trust his recommendations of the best places to visit.
We plan to return at our next opportunity.

Just back and really enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts, Harold and Jerry. The property is fabulous at the top of the hill with great views. Rooms are nicely appointed and the wine reception offered great socializing, good wines and tasty artisan cheeses. The breakfast was exceptional with fresh fruit and eggs to order plus freshly baked bread. Don't miss it if you are visiting the area.

Room Tip: If your room faces the highway, run the fan to soften the road noise

I booked this B & B because of tripadvisor and I am so glad I did. Harold and Jerry are the best hosts and everything about our stay there was perfect. The breakfasts (especially Jerry's french toast) and the cocktail hours were an added bonus. Rooms are impeccable, we stayed in the Burgundy Room but all rooms looked great. The location is great, close to town but far enough away to feel like you are in private paradise. We already booked for next year and I would highly recommend Bella Villa Messina!

My husband and I just returned from our first visit to Sonoma last night (27MAY2013). We stayed the entire trip at Bella Villa Messina and it was absolutely amazing. We stayed the first 2 nights in the Burgundy room- fantastic room with great views. The second two nights were in the Asti room- highly recommend this room- it is beautiful, big, and has its own balcony! The breakfast each morning holds true to the other reviews, yummy and a perfect way to start the day. Also- the one of a kind hospitality you get from Jerry and Harold is unparalleled. If you want a one of a kind experience with two of the most wonderful, knowledgeable, and generous people on the planet- stay at Villa Bella Messina, you will truly feel at home there. The Berglund's will return for sure!

Room Tip: If its available go with the Asti Room- its amazing but all of the rooms have their charm.
