“Best local market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Big Johns's Market is the place to shop in Healdsburg for organic produce as well as a wide selection of other organic grocery items. They have an excellent meat and fish counter with a good selection of grass fed meats and other organic meats. They also have prepared meats ready to barbecue.

“The place to pick up everything you need for a picnic!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Great deli sandwiches (premade or made to order), salads, even sushi. A gourmet wine country
market. Nice selection of wines as well.

“We are so lucky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Been going here for years. Always talk to the cheese department folks beause they will point you in the right direction. You can use a triple cream for this, a hard salty cheese for that. Too many salamis to choose from--what a problem!! The hot/salad bars are excellent! Take your picnic back to the Dry Creek Inn and sit at your private patio, or go to the Square and fortify yourself before going to Topel, Selby, Williamson, or many others! Those from the San Francisco Peninsula can compare this to Andronico's of Los Altos. Can't miss!

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

We did not like the sandwiches we ordered from their menu. We felt that they used lesser quality ingredients than some other places we visited. We paid slightly more in other places, but liked them SO much better. The two sandwich combinations we ordered did not hold together flavor-wise, although they sounded good on paper. We also tried their quinoa salad from the prepared foods, and did not like it at all.
That being said, they were very nice, service was excellent, and their cheese department is fantastic.

“More than just a market”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

The moment we walked into Big John's Market a friendly feller asked if we needed any help. In fact we were looking for some specific items, so we asked about them. He knew right away where to find the things they had, and gave us specific suggestions on where to find the items they didn’t have elsewhere in town. Big John's Market has an excellent selection of California wines from high quality small producers that normally sell only to restaurants, a terrific deli, and super-wide breezy aisles that make navigating the space a piece of cake. All together coming here is a lot more fun than you might expect from what looks on the outside to be just a normal supermarket.
