“A Premier Attraction with A Premier Wine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

With 1500 acres, this winery has everything. Beautiful wine tasting room, incredible grounds, a chapel, a culinary school, a herb garden, a dressage facility (of all things), a Hummer to take you around the acreage and a smart, lovely lady to educate you on wines .... that would be Nicole. Not to miss this !!

“Felt like poor relatives”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

The venue is lovely, the wines are great, and there's some unusual things to do (trail rides after wine tasting?), but we felt like poor relatives coming to visit. We joined the Foley Food and Wine Society at their Firestone vineyard, and since Chalk Hills is a member of Bill Foley's group, we had to stop by CH (even though it is a bit off the beaten path). There were only a few people at the tasting room when we arrived, and they were going out for a horseback ride after tasting. But we really felt neglected by the staff, who busied themselves around the paying guests. We left without completing all the flights.

“A Trail Ride paired with Wine Tasting”

A Trail Ride paired with Wine Tasting

We travel to the Napa area several times a year but this was my first trip to Healdsburg and well worth the drive! A peaceful horseback ride through a beautiful vineyard followed by lovely wines on a relaxing terrace. The Chalk Hill Estate staff were knowledgeable and friendly, the views are spectacular, the stables are immaculate, and the horses are sweet. A new favorite!

“Great Place to Eat?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

The winery is on a beautiful lot in Healdsburg. They have wonderful wine. Tastings range from 15-25 dollars. You can taste indoors or outdoors. I know it sounds like a lot of other wineries....

What I recommend is their Culinary Lunch Tour. It is $100 per person ( $85 if you are in the wine club. We joined the wine club after the tour and got the discount). It is a four course meal..we had 1. Acorn Nut soup with Smoked paprika oil, matched with Saugvion Gris. 2. Seared Scallops on a bed of salad matched with Estate Chardonnay 3. Pork loin Matched with Syrah and finally Meyer tart matched with Semillon. It was food and wine for the money! That is a great deal! I forgot to say the whole tour takes about 3 hours. You tour the estate in a vehicle ( we picked the hummer..no guns though) and talked to the man in charge of the Garden where they grow their veggies and fruits.

“Beautiful Surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Very picturesque location with a great facility for private functions. I regret we didn't make a prior appointment as the winery was fairly crowded on a recent Saturday visit. Outdoor tables were at a premium on a nice day, but with some patience and timing we managed to snag one. The winery staff was friendly and knowledgeable, although a bit busy on a Saturday afternoon. Recommend an appointment to ensure maximum enjoyment.
