Description: Spoonbar Chef Louis Maldonado serves a menu of clean and simple dishes honoring America’s diverse culinary influences. His artfully-crafted, market-driven cuisine of fresh, bold flavors is built around seasonally-inspired local and sustainable ingredients. The same focus carries over to Spoonbar’s cocktails which use specially sourced organically-grown herbs, fruits and vegetables with an emphasis on locally and domestically produced spirits. Freeform tables made from reclaimed acacia surround a long, communal table crafted from a split tree. Splashes of color—from the turquoise Eames chairs to the golden floral three dimensional wall art—brighten the open space like dappled sunshine filtering through summer leaves. On warm days and evenings the restaurant’s Cantina doors open up to sidewalk dining.

“Fun atmosphere but so-so food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

The family style service was fun - the location great and the decor entertaining but the food wasn't great. I wouldn't go back

“new dining venture in town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

We tried the Spoonbar with a dear friend, and were unaware that it had both a new chef and a totally new menu style. It was very European and offered a number of unique items we had never heard of. Had to have several of the menu items defined for us (might suggest their menu include a brief description these uncommon items--at least uncommon to the local area). We were initially surprised by the small size of the main menu portions, as well as a couple were served cold--the halibut and the scallop entrees. Also to our surprise and delight was their very delicious taste and they turned out to be filling as well! All in all it was a totally different dining experience and we hope that this experiment of a new culinary style will be a success. The "squid ink" pasta with shrimp and clams was very good. It also would have been nice if the meal offered some french bread or such. They might want to also add a few more "wine country traditional" items to supplement their unique menu.

“Very gourmet, but delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

Be warned that most of the food is very gourmet and pretty much unrecognizable to the average (even above average) diner. However, we loved every bite we ate. Brand new, celebrated chef just there for a few weeks is sure to do great things.

“Awesome Bar and Vibe! Very cool environment unfortunately the food is lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

This place just screams cool! I love the chairs, tables, bar, everything. Very fun, cool, swank but not over the top and still chill.
My complaints are:
Service: a little uptight, need to be a little more down-to-earth and remember that Healdsburg is an agricultural town with real people still living here and it is not NYC.
The Food-very average, small portions, high prices, nothing that says "OMG! that was amazing!"
We will be back I am sure because we like to sit and have drinks and people watch. We will keep trying the food and hope things improve.

“Go eat here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2012

Spoonbar has such a great menu! It was delicious. We ordered appetizers and two entrees--all were amazing. They have interesting seasonal items on the menu, but even the pickiest eater would find something to enjoy. The cocktails are also very good. They have a very long cocktail menu and the drinks are also (like the food) fresh, seasonal and delicious.
