“Ahhh.. not a teddy bear or doily in sight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Chic, modern comfort, one block from the square. Loved the SF Chronicle Top 100 Restaurant (Spoonbar) downstairs. Complimentary breakfast exceeded expectations with made-to-order omelets and waffles, as well as traditional continental breakfast fare. Complementary bikes and a good map provided by knowledgeable staff allowed us an unforgettable bike ride through the vineyards. Great central location meant we could sample wine all day at the gazillion tasting rooms around the square, then simply stroll back to our room. We parked our car at check-in and never moved it again until check-out.

While our room faced the main street, the thick windows kept out the traffic noise - not a problem. However, the hardwood floors meant that we were woken up at 12:30 a.m. by the guest in the room above ours walking around in high heals and dragging their suitcases across the floor. he housekeeping system could use a little work too; after we checked in and put out the do-not-disturb sign, a housekeeper urgently knocked on our door anyway... to deliver shampoo she had forgotten to stock the room with. Shortly afterwards, another housekeeper ran the vacuum cleaner up and down our hallway until we called the front desk to ask them to stop.

We would return here, but be sure to check in a little later, and get a room on the top floor.

Room Tip: Don't worry about facing the street - you won't hear the street noise. But definitely get a...

....when the hotel would not respond to the banks satisfaction of a disputed charge they put on our card.
We first tried to sort it out with the hotel and got the run around.
The bank experienced the same nonsense when they made their inquirers with the hotel. Our money was returned.

The bank was concerned that the hotel would continue to make erroneous charges, so, a new credit card was issued.

I liked the H2 hotel. It's very beautiful and located in the heart of Healdsburg.

++++ the breakfast!! We enjoyed the breakfast of the hotel. Fresh orange juice, nice coffee and we loved the bagels, cream cheese and salmon. Also freshly made waffles or pancakes.

++++ relaxing pool

++++ great and soft beds

++++ nice bathroom

I really loved the hotel but I do think it is a little bit too pricy.

Hotel is ok, very much the look and feel of a hostel rather than a hotel and for the price, I was expecting a hotel. My husband and I arrived to two single beds in our room when we'd booked a king. When we complained the receptionist tried to blame me by saying that I'd asked for twins, which was untrue. They put the beds together, but left on the 2 single duvets. So it really was then just 2 singles put together, not a king. The beds were also absolutely dreadful, they sank down so much in the middle that it felt like we were sleeping in hammocks all night. Not great for the back! Food at Spoon Bar was average and quite pricey for what it was. Recommend eating elsewhere as there are a number of much better restaurants in Healdsburg to chose from (Willi's, Scopa, Bravas). Service was really average and our keys never worked when we returned to our room so had to go back to reception to get them reprogrammed each time we came back after going out, which was a bit painful. The location was good though. Recommend staying elsewhere if you're looking for a hotel rather than a hostel.

H2 hotel was part of our bike tour. The hotel is similar to modern european hotels we have stayed in. We found the hotel room to be roomy with a good size desk, flat screen TV, refrigerator and two chairs. There are two single beds pushed together with double sheets. We never found the middle of the bed uncomfortable. The sheets were really nice for the cool weather, each bed had their own duvet. The room had a balcony overlooking a courtyard.

Breakfast was included which offered a mostly carb diet although the last morning smoked salmon was offered. Yogurt, granola, cinnamon toast, belgian waffle and pastries make up the spread. I enjoyed the good selection of hot teas.

Looking back I would agree that the staff are poorly trained but since this is not a JW or Four-Season it did not impact our stay. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

H2 Hotel - a great place to stay. It has a great feel and a great location.
The Spoonbar serves great cocktails and gets really busy in the evenings. The restaurant food is a little out there for my taste and not particularly family friendly so we didn't eat in the hotel. It is very close to the main square and plenty of places to choose to eat.
Nice pool area - free bikes. Bamboo flooring - extremely comfortable beds - just like sleeping on a cloud. Free unlimited sparking and still water in room and around hotel.
Breakfasts vary on when you are staying - plentiful breakfasts at weekends but less choice during the week. All in all a great place to stay.

This is a European style hotel with clean, modern decor and a focus on environmental friendliness. You have to put a hotel key card in the main power control by the room door in order to turn on the electricity. I have only ever seen this in Norway. The room was spacious, and I liked the hard wood floors because I have allergies. Each room has a small balcony, but ours was useless as it was at the front of the hotel where there was a lot of noise and zero privacy. There are full-sized toiletries in the bathroom, which you pay for if you take them with you.
We visited on a very busy September weekend when there were lots of weddings going on. We had made a reservation several months ago, to attend an anniversary party, and were forced to spend two nights just to get a reservation. It was cheaper to stay Saturday and Sunday rather than Friday and Saturday, despite which it was still pretty expensive! And we had to use valet parking because the town was so crowded, for an additional $20 a night.
I had no issues with the staff. I thought they were very friendly. The breakfast (included in the cost) was very good and included numerous options.
The bed was comfy but there was a heck of a lot of street noise, as our room was at the front of the hotel. Saturday night partyers seemed to hang out on the sidewalk well after midnight. Noisy, rambunctious drivers revved past during the night (the street is the main drag coming in from highway 101). Then the delivery trucks started arriving at five o'clock in the morning. If you can, ask for a room at the back of the hotel!
The hotel restaurant, Spoonbar, is one of our favorites in Healdsburg. (Another favorite is Zin.) This is why we decided to stay at the hotel, but I won't stay there again unless I can get a quieter room.
The location is central to many of the Sonoma County wineries so if that is the focus of your trip, I recommend the town but do explore other options for a hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel where it might be quieter.
