“"LEED" hotel, superb experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

The H2 is one of the nicest hotel experiences I have had. Set in beautiful Healdsburg, it offered us everything we could have wanted. The open form reception/restaurant/bar/sitting area is welcoming and spacious. Our room was fantastic with an open form large bathroom, comfortable bed, little balcony overlooking the pretty street (no noise issues). The Spoon-Bar had an amazing cocktail selection and we enjoyed pre-dinner drinks both nights snugged in with all the other keen patrons. The front opened garage style onto the sidewalk and offered good people watching. The bartenders were show-men. We enjoyed a nice dinner although there was a bit of inconsistency with the serving sizes depending on what you ordered. The pasta entree was tiny but the lamb enormous - didn't make sense. The food was delicious though. Breakfast was buffet style and very good. The solar heated pool is very nice. The green roof is worth a peek, covered in plants and take note of all the green/environmental aspects that makes this a LEED Gold green building. Eco-friendly.

Room Tip: they are all good

The rooms are lovely, modern and comfortable and incredibly thoughtful in layout and amenities. There are private balconies, perfect for coffee and pastries that can be delivered to your room. We also loved the DVD rentals and filtered water (still or sparkling) provided free of charge. The shampoos and lotions provided were amazing and I ended up buying a bottle of my own! The only negative would be that the bikes available for rental were booked by time we got downstairs in the morning but other than that we loved our stay and will definitely stay here again. This is truly one of the best hotels I've ever stayed!

H2 is funky, hip and fun - but comfort is not sacrificed for style. Every little detail has been thought out and designed with the guest in mind. The bathroom is incredible, with wonderful bath products, a delightful rain shower, and a separate toilet from the sink and shower. The bed and linens are top notch and it is clear that no expense was spared. And the details - the lamps, funky and not corporate cookie cutter; the cabinets and drawers all wood with leather pulls; the groovy art on the walls -- all go into making the room comfortable and unforgettable. Something unique that will stay with you.

The staff is incredibly helpful and willing to assist with directions, recommendations, anything you need. Every morning there is a complimentary breakfast in Spoonbar with pastries, granola and yogurt (the granola was amazing), fruit and great coffee. Spoonbar itself is also excellent.

And the location - you're minutes away on foot from Healdsburg Plaza and the tons of tasting rooms and restaurants centered on the square. You are a bike ride or a short drive from the vineyards and wine tasting rooms in the Dry Creek and Russian River valleys. Everything is set up perfectly for an excellent trip to Sonoma wine country.

This is a fantastic hotel - you cannot go wrong staying at H2. I will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms 4 and 9 seem to be corner rooms. Rooms 5-8 seem to face out to Healdsburg Ave. Rooms 10 and 11...

Although I didn't stay here, while I was visiting I was very amazed at all of the detail and design put into the place. This looks like a 5 star hotel to me

Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, iPhone charger/player included, great bath with separate powder room. Love the still and sparkling water available on every floor. No gym, but bikes available to borrow. We did this running trail instead: http://www.dailymile.com/routes/308381-running-route-in-healdsburg-ca

You can walk to all the restaurants in town from H2 and many wine tasting shops. As other reviewers have said, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Also, the Spoonbar was a nice "home base" after dinner with great bartenders. The restaurant got good reviews but we ate at Barndiva instead. Barndiva (with the mini tasting menu) was great, and an easy walk.

There is a nice sitting area in the lobby that can be used of you have work to do but you want to be out and about. The wifi in our room was fine though, and very usable on both laptop and iPad.

The hotel is right off 101, adjacent to the town square. Much more economical than Hotel Healdsburg but still luxurious and sparklingly clean.

Room Tip: You can choose the back side of the hotel for more quiet. Some rooms have a balcony which is nice.

This place was great! It had some of the more comfortable beds that I have ever slept in. In a great location within walking distance of the main square. The water bars where you can get regular or sparkling water on every floor is a nice touch. Showers are really comfortable. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

I couldn't be happier with this property. H2 is right in the middle of the town of Healdsburg. All the fabulous restaurants, tasting rooms, shops, and entertainment are right there. The town square, where they hold community events, is across the street.

The environmentally-friendly hotel is easy to find off of 101. Valet service is provided right in front. As you walk in, you pass the water sculpture for Spoon Bar, the hotel's restaurant and bar on the first floor. The rental bikes sit to the right of the walkway. Wonderful, natural landscaping softens the sleek edges of this new, modern building. They have a green roof too.

Through big glass doors with red trim, you walk into a large lobby and restaurant area. The lobby desk is part of the bar, which is part of the lobby desk. Everything flows, and the concrete floors, wood accents on the walls, and gorgeous doors and windows complete a beautiful, serene-yet-uplifting atmosphere. The valet and front desk staffers were friendly and engaging. The restaurant, in which the lobby desk sits, is surrounded by glass doors (opened on nice evenings).

Complementary breakfast is served at H2 every morning from 6 to 10am. Pastries, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, granola, fruit, toast with house-made raspberry jam, juice, tea, and coffee from a local cafe make up the array of choices. H2 even includes a banana pecan bread that is gluten-free. All of the provisions are laid out on the bar in the center of the restaurant. We ate there every morning. If anyone is a big tea drinker, they serve Two Leaves & a Bud brand tea, and they offered a ton of varieties. They get their coffee from a local coffee shop.

Every floor has a water bar and a computer with internet access in the community space. At the water bar, there are taps for still and sparkling filtered water and an ice dispenser. Each room is equipped with drinking glasses made from recycled wine bottles and glass carafes for filling. They're in the mini fridge.

I can't believe that I have to make it a point to state that H2's rooms do have a safe for your belongings, but I have been to two hotels recently that did not provide in-room safes!

Upon entering our room, my husband and I just froze. Our jaws dropped when we saw how gorgeous the room was. DH turned to the hotel employee who was helping us to our room and asked if he could live here. DH and I are modern design aficionados. Keep in mind that (1) H2's decor is decidedly fresh, organic modern and (2) it is an eco-friendly hotel.

The furnishings were unique, attractive, and comfortable. We slept well. The bed was very comfy. There is a small balcony off the sleeping area, and plenty of desk/counter space.

The bathroom is gorgeous. The green tile floor continued seamlessly into a glassed in shower (no door) with a large shower head, built in cubbies holding luxurious toiletries, and a teak bench. The shower was a treat. I was concerned that I would be cold with no door or curtain on the shower, but it was totally fine.

There is a frosted glass strip window for natural light (a portion of it opens for fresh air too). The bathroom sink and vanity area are extremely well lit, and the bathroom contains a water closet, a separate room for the toilet. The storage in our room was a set of built-ins located in the entryway of the room.

Check out was very easy. We had to leave before dawn to catch a hot air balloon ride that morning, and the desk employees offered us breakfast items even though we were down there before the posted breakfast time. Very nice.

We stayed there two nights, and I wish we would have arranged to stay there the whole trip. I keep thinking about this place, even though it has been a few months since we have been. I want to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the street.
