“Fun, modern hotel in Healdsburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2011

H2 hotel is an eco-friendly, modern hotel that is located within walking distance of all the restaurants and shops in the town. We stayed in the Eco Suite for 2 nights. The room was clean and large, with TWO outdoor areas (one balcony and one seating/patio area). The other great thing about this hotel is that they provide free, filtered drinking water (both stiill/sparkling) in the lobby and on each of the floors. There was a small fridge in the room to store the water bottles too! Free overnight parking was available on the street and in a parking lot across the street from the hotel. The restaurant was ok. Overall, we had a great experience in this smartly designed, eco-friendly hotel and would stay here again!

When we arrived we did not know what to expect...Healdsburg hotels and B&Bs are pricey...very pricey, so when I came across this hotel online in the right location at a manageable price, I decided to take a change. So glad I did. H2 is a "green" hotel...I was proud to be their guest and proud of their "green" efforts. First of all the hotel is very attractive...the lobby/dining area very modern and comfortable. In the evening this space becomes a vibrant, popular, happening restaurant. The food was wonderful. The staff is friendly and welcoming...young, eager to please and very helpful. The hotel has a wonderfully private small pool and a wide staircase, showered in light and user friendly ,should you not want to take an elevator.
Our guest room was very attractive, comfortable king size bed, bamboo floor, organic carpet, eco-friendly material used to build the closet...a gorgeous bathroom with water closet...all constructed out of eco friendly materials. When you arrive in the room you must insert your room key into a slot to activate power in the room.
The breakfast each morning was fabulous...healthy, fresh croissants, fresh fruit and all in all, delicious. And I almost forgot to mention location...it is a half block from the town square...perfect! I highly recommend this hotel to all.

Room Tip: We booked an average room and were completely sat.

Too cold and modern. Town closes up early during the week, so if arriving late in the day at non-peak time, nothing to do. Made reservations at "Dry Creek Kitchen" but didn't seem worth it. Got back in the car and traveled South to Santa Rosa and ended up at a Thai restaurant that offered WONDERFUL food that was reasonably-priced.

More of a young person's hotel to stay in or girl's weekend place. Not sorth the money. Like Napa area much better than Sonoma.

No hotel parking - had to search and be careful not to be ticketed. Could be an issue during a busy time.

i've stayed everywhere from the ritz carlton in dana point to the motel 6 in moab, utah, and this hotel is by far the worst i've ever experienced. while waiting for our room to be made ready, the hotel manager offered to take our $80 worth of cheese and our $60 champagne up to the room. so we went to the bar for martinis & oysters. not only was the martini sub-par (and over-priced), but one of the oysters was actually bad...so bad, in fact, that it's smell was powerfully rotten. one would think the person who shucked the oysters would have noticed the offensive smell, knowing, of course, that bad oysters can make someone permanently sick (i.e., with hepatitis c.), but the hotel bar was nonetheless irresponsible enough to serve it. then, when we arrived in the room, our cheese and champagne were nowhere to be found. when we called the front desk, we found out that our food/drink had been mistakenly discarded (because the hotel cleaning staff thought they'd been left by the previous occupants). when i spoke with the hotel manager, she was dismissive--offering only to comp our oysters and perhaps check us into another hotel. deciding to stick it out, we left and had a nice dinner on the town. when we returned to our room later that evening, we signed on to the internet, only to find several sites (i.e., southparkstudios.com) blocked by the firewall (as if comedy central is worthy of censorship). is the hotel hip and architecturally well-designed? yes. but my advice? save your money. this place is a sad example of style over quality, design over service, & inflated pricing mistaken for excellence.

Our attempt to accommodate the guest and provide exceptional service by placing their champagne and cheese in the room in advance of their arrival unfortunately did not go as planned, but all items were quickly restored to the room within minutes of the guest’s arrival. Customers unhappy with our food is something we never like to see, and we strive for the highest standard of quality. We will always work with the customer to provide food that is to their liking and in this case, we did replace the bad oyster and did not charge for the dish. We have had many very satisfied guests here at h2hotel and receive compliments on our service and food regularly.

We didn't know much about Napa before we planned our spur of the moment trip, and when we learned that Bear Republic brewery was in a place called Healdsburg in the northern part of the Sonoma Valley, I started looking for hotel options in the area. I came upon H2Hotel and I instantly liked what I saw and read on their web site. So I booked an Eco King spa renewal package, which included two 50-minute spa treatments at their sister hotel, Hotel Healdsburg.

Driving up from Petaluma, we found the hotel easily due to the distinctive design of the building. The lobby is open and breezy and funky and check-in was efficient. I had asked for a room away from the street (traffic noise wakes me up) and loved what we got: our room faced the inner courtyard and it had this lovely cement patio surrounded by shrubbery. We were able to sit outsite and drink the free bubbly water the hotel provides in the rooms (loved the water refilling stations as well ... what a great idea!).

The room was modern in design: sleek, purposeful, but very comfortable (I didn't want to get out of that bed in the morning!). The bathroom was fantastic. The shower itself was bigger than my on-suite bathroom at home, and the showerhead and Hotel Healdsburg spa amenities made it such a treat.

Breakfast is included. Toast, bakery products, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereals, fruit, YUMMY coffee--exactly the kind of stuff we like to eat in the morning. We also had a drink in the Spoonbar, and I wish we would have had more time in Healdsburg because there are a few more drinks on their menu I'd like to try (not to mention having dinner there).

I think the best thing about the hotel is its fleet of bikes for use by its hotel guests. We took them out and did an incredibly scenic 12 mile ride through windy, country roads, passing vineyard after vineyard along the way. Absolutely beautiful and a lovely way to start our day.

We also loved all the art they had around the hotel, particularly the spoon sculpture just outside the front door.

I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel. We loved it and the region so much we could easily come back once a year. I can't wait (and next time we're going to stay longer in Healdsburg and at this charming hotel).

We stayed at H2 for a girls' weekend and it couldn't have been more perfect.
- The location is ideal -- right in the center of everything in Healdsburg.
- The decor is great - loved the eco-chic design and features like the water bars. Nice pool too.
- The common areas were welcoming and really used by the guests so we always felt that we were "part of something."
- The staff was great. Everyone was really nice and helpful.
- The rooms had great touches like wonderful showers, great bath products, and comfortable beds.
- The restaurant was very good. Daily breakfast was healthy and yummy with great coffee and house-made preserves. We ate dinner at Spoonbar and thought everything was good, except the desserts.
- The bar is phenomenal. Scott has created a fantastic cocktail list, but they have a great selection of wines too. And the open air design brings the friendly vibe of the town right into the bar.

All around, a fantastic experience.

Room Tip: Get the suite or junior suite.

We really enjoyed our trip to H2 - its right in the heart of the downtown area. The rooms are brand new and modern. The staff were really lovely and the breakfast was very good. The only complaint was that the mattresses were more like futons but maybe I wasn't clear about that when I booked the hotel. I can't tell you how very clean and immaculate the rooms were - really terrific. The bathroom also had super toiletries and plush towels and robes. I just called to make another reservation but they were booked solid!
