“Just Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

We had the most incredible time with Jerry of Wine Country Journeys. He is so personable and very knowledgeable about wine, the various wineries and the region we visited. He picked us up at our hotel right on time, drove us all around Sonoma visiting four different wineries. When we got there, the wineries were prepared for our visit and very welcoming. All of the tasting fees were included in the price of the tour so we had no concerns with fees while we were tasting. That was a huge plus! We have been on these tours before but this tour was far and away the best we had been on. Everything was just wonderful from the scheduling, the pick up, the tour, the drop off. It was like clockwork. Just wonderful. We will tour with Wine Country Journeys many more times in years to come. Thank you Jerry for a great day!!!!

“A great day in wine country!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

We signed on for this tour on the strength of the TripAdvisor reviews ranking this tour as number 1. We were not disappointed! The tour guide, Jerry was an engaging guide who was clearly interested in ensuring we had a great time. There were only two other people on this tour so we did not feel like we were a part of some big impersonal tour group. We started our tour with a pick up at our hotel at 10:45 am and visited four wineries, starting with the J. Rickards winery in Sonoma County (which was one of our favorites). As it was harvest time, we had the opportunity to see a winery in full production, harvesting grapes and the beginnings of the wine making process. We were given the opportunity to taste grapes right off the vine, sample wine from a barrel and learn some really interesting information regarding the grape growing process. We had at least 4 different wines at each winery. One of the highlights of the day was the stop at the Raymond Burr Vineyards where we came to sample a Cabernet Franc which Jerry knew we wanted to try and so he arranged the visit on fairly short notice. Perry Mason fans visiting this winery get to see some show memorabilia and even hold Mr. Burr's Emmy award. We bought lunch at a great deli in what appears to be an old fashioned general store and took it to the Amista winery where we enjoyed a picnic. The visit to wine country was part of a birthday celebration for two of the tour guests and we were surprised with a bottle of sparkling wine for lunch and a welcome birthday card from the winery when we stepped inside. All in all it was a great way to start our visit to the Sonoma County area. It is evident that Jerry enjoys a good relationship with the winery operators and he and his guests were well received. It was a pleasant day well spent with our little group and thanks to Jerry's easy going nature and wealth of wine knowledge we had a great time. We finished the day with a drop off at our hotel around 4:30 pm- no driving for any of the tasters which is the way a wine tasting tour should operate. I highly recommend this tour as a great introduction to the wine region of Sonoma County. It felt like we had spent the day with friends!

“What a tour should be....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

As a concierge in Arizona I know what I want and expect from a tour company. If I worked in the SF area, this would be the wine tour company I would recommend to my guests! The mechanics of the operation were all executed perfectly and as promised. The friendliness of the service and the opportunity for a more unique experience set the tour apart from other companies I researched. When I called to make the reservation, Amanda didn't just take down our info and call it a day. She delved into what type of experience we would like (were we serious wine buyers or girls out for a day of fun?). She asked what type of wine each of us preferred (red for Linda and me, white only for Ginger, bubbly anyone?) and selected wineries for our day accordingly. Jerry was a very easy going and accomodating guide and had the knack of knowing just when to give us lots of information and when to let us kick back and relax. Any special interest or more detailed questions we had for him were answered with obvious passion and knowledge. We had the opportunity to taste grapes off the vines, meet owners and winemakers, and even taste from the barrell! All of the people we met at the wineries were as friendly and as enthusiastic as Amanda and Jerry. And I haven't even mentioned the quality and taste of the wines we tried! Suffice it to say, we had to buy a suitcase to check in our purchases on the plane and my only regret is that I didn't buy more! My friends in AZ who received wine as gifts are sharing that regret. A tour shouldn't be shuffling in and out of a bus and listening to rote information. A tour should be an exploration and a personalized experience that you take with you. That experience is what WCJ provided for us. Slainte!

We have used Wine Country Tours twice now and each time it has been a fantastic experience. Jerry is a wonderful tour guide and is very knowledgeable about the area and makes sure that you are pleased with your experience. He wide, Amanda, is very organized and is great with the business side of things. I highly recommend this tour and am looking forward to a 3rd trip with them in the near future.

“Incredible, fun and top notch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Amanda and Jerry the owners of Wine Country Journeys have put together hands down the best way to taste wine in Sonoma and Napa.

Jerry is a great tour guide-he knows the region, very well, is passionate about wine and super friendly.

What an experience and what a company to lead your wine tour! You will taste incredible wine from smaller producers, get inside access to what and how they do things and most of all you will not go wrong by having Wine Country Journeys take care of all the details-all you do is show up, and enjoy all wine country has to offer.

We cannot wait to get back to wine country so we can go on another wine coutnry journey!
