We stumbled onto Mazzocco accidentally while looking for another winery in the area. Man, I have to tell you - these are some of the best Zins around. Full bodied, buttery texture and explosive, jammy flavor. - WOW. I am a Zin lover, so I have had the good, the bad and the ugly. These Zins are packed with flavor and in my humble opinion are some of the best available. Not a household name, this old winery features Antoine Favero as their head wine maker. He was born in France and attended school at UC Davis. He knows how to make Zins in several different styles. When you visit here, ask about some of their medals, the list is huge. I don't recall ever seeing Mazzocco in retail stores, so every time I go to Sonoma, I go here and grab a case or two. Of course you can always join one of their wine clubs, but shipping gets a bit expensive. How good are their wines, really? Mazzocco was chosen as the ONLY winery to represent all of the California wineries at a prestigious event in Washington, DC called the Diplomatic Culinary Partnership hosted by the Department of State. If you like Zins or Petite Sirah, you simply have to stop by Mazzocco.
