“I slayed my meal!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Excellent reception- immediate pleasant and helpful greeting. Good selection of food - (not the dreadful multi-choice menu on laminated sheet). Food, service and atmosphere all very good.

“Perfect meal after a day on the hills.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

This was a real find for us. We enjoy a good pub lunch after a day in the lakes. This atmospheric hostelry certainly served the purpose and will be a regular pick for us. The well kept ale can be tasted in a neat three half pint wooden holder. Its good to be able to try all of the beers on tap in a sample pack. Our food didnt disappoint the Sunday Luch was very popular with us. Couldn't fault the service, it was attentive yet relaxed. The two course menu seemed fair at £14.95.

We had a recent meal here as part of a large group. The food and drink was excellent and the service immaculate.

“Sunday Lunch, Mmmmmm, yummy !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012 via mobile

Called in for Sunday lunch and fortunately there was a free table, I think booking is advisable on Sundays ! (Lunch served from 12 to 2.30)
Lovely surroundings with open fires and comfy seating. The staff are more than friendly and make you feel at home.
My wife had roast beef and I had roast pork with a lovely apple gravy, both locally sourced as is everything on the menu. The starters and desserts looked delicious but the main course was enough for us. Top class !!
