Description: Mezzaluna Restaurant is located in the historic Princeton Landing building (which was built in 1908). The harbor town of Princeton By The Sea is located 20 miles south of San Francisco. In this scenic area of Half Moon Bay, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, you can experience breathtaking coastal views and marvel at the giants waves of Mavericks surf spot. We provide nothing but the highest quality of meat, fish, produce, pasta and local fresh ingredients. Mezzaluna is continually awarded as Best Restaurant on the Coast and Best Customer Service. In 2012, Mezza Luna was awarded "Favorite Italian Restaurant" and in 2013 awarded "Favorite Overall Restaurant" and "Favorite Italian Restaurant" by the coastside community and the readers of the Half Moon Bay Review. In 2014 Mezza Luna was awarded by Open Table the "Dinners Choice Award". But it doesn't take an award to prove the quality and consistency of the great food, service and wine... You must experience it for yourself.

“Under expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

I'd tried to get reservations at two other places with no avail. My little voice was yelling at me when this one had availability right away. The bruchetta was good and seemed from quality ingredients. The bean soup (soup of the day) seemed straight from the can. My entree of speghetti with pesto was unremarkable. The pasta tasted as if it had been cooked awhile back and microwaved. Rubbery, almost. The pesto was all right. Earlier in the evening, we submitted our orders for the chocolate souffles. Apparently the kitchen didn't get the message. 3 different servers came by asking if we wanted dessert. We kept saying we were waiting for the souffles. Finally our original server noticed what was happening and they finally arrived. They were pretty good. Prob the best part of the meal. Too many servers. Too many hands in the pot. Horrible communication.

“Great place, out of the way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

I went with out of town visitors because I couldn't get in anywhere else without an hour wait. We were seated immediately here, had a party of 6 and the food and service were great.

“One of the Best Truly Italian Restaurants in San Mateo County”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

We have been coming to Mezza Luna for many years and are never disappointed. The Calamari Fritti are tender and the Salmone Carpaccio is delicious. The wine list was better but our favorites have been replaced by more expensive items of lesser quality. Enjoy the tortellini, gnocchi and Veal Innamorata is delicious. My husband enjoys swiss chard and always enjoys it there. The tiramisu is good but the chocolate souffle was nothing more than a mediocre lava cake. The Italian waiters are good, the restaurant is rather loud, there is no real ocean view but there is ample parking. Give it a try.

“Consistently good traditional Italian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Starting with an excellent pizza, dinner here is freshly prepared and tasty. Pastas, chicken parmigiana and seafood dishes are always pleasing and service is very good.

“No reason to return”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Really disappointed in this place. Went on a Saturday night & don't think it mattered that we made a reservation. It was packed & extremely loud, with families letting their kids wander around unsupervised. The waiter seated 2 other tables after us, but waited on both of them first, until he caught my glare Probably should've left at that point. The overpriced bottle of wine we treated ourselves to was a real disappointment. I ordered salmon and my husband had chicken and both our entrees, including accompaniments (mashed potatoes & we think it was swiss chard, but couldn't be sure) were overcooked & bland, despite the sauces. The average creme brulee we shared for dessert was really the only decent part of the meal. Very disappointed this time in the generally positive TA reviews . Lastly, I made a visit to the woman's restroom before I left. Really disgusting. I've been to gas stations with cleaner & more updated facilities.
