Description: Mezzaluna Restaurant is located in the historic Princeton Landing building (which was built in 1908). The harbor town of Princeton By The Sea is located 20 miles south of San Francisco. In this scenic area of Half Moon Bay, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, you can experience breathtaking coastal views and marvel at the giants waves of Mavericks surf spot. We provide nothing but the highest quality of meat, fish, produce, pasta and local fresh ingredients. Mezzaluna is continually awarded as Best Restaurant on the Coast and Best Customer Service. In 2012, Mezza Luna was awarded "Favorite Italian Restaurant" and in 2013 awarded "Favorite Overall Restaurant" and "Favorite Italian Restaurant" by the coastside community and the readers of the Half Moon Bay Review. In 2014 Mezza Luna was awarded by Open Table the "Dinners Choice Award". But it doesn't take an award to prove the quality and consistency of the great food, service and wine... You must experience it for yourself.

“Wonderful Italian Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

My wife and I were driving up the coast en route to San Fransisco Airport. we had been using Trip Advisor all week for resturants. Since this was our last day on the West Coast, we wanted a special place and Italian was on the docket.
As noted in other reviews this is not right on the beach, but it is housed in a relatively attractive building. One side faces the water so ask for it if that is a priority. We faced the street but beyond it is the first range of mountains on the coast.
We were greeted and brought to a table with an immaculate starched white table cloth. The waiter was from Italy and spoke English with a strong accent. Great Italian bread with olive oil and Chiante (our choice from a nice wine list). My wife and I always do splits so we jointly ordered tuna in manero sauce with capers and eggplant. It was wonderful especially the tuna. For an out of the way town this Italian food rivaled that found in the big cities like NY.
We enjoyed a leisurely lunch with attentive service. We will go back and set it as a favorite destination on our travel GPS.
After lunch we walked the docks where commercial fisherman were selling fresh fish right foo their boat. We saw tuna, halibut, and other kinds of fish.
Bottom line this is a great place to have lunch (and no doubt dinner) in an offbeat town.

“Good Italian in Princeton-by-the-sea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

While the description usually labels this area Half Moon Bay, the restaurant is actually in the town of Princeton-by-the-sea. It can be reached by road or plane. My husband and I like to fly into the Half Moon Bay airport (light planes only) and then walk into town. The closest restaurant to the airport is Mezza Luna.
The restaurant is a little back from the water so there isn't an ocean view but that does not detract from the restaurant at all. The food is very good with sufficient choice to satisfy any eater. The service has always been very good. The restaurant is popular on the weekends so be prepared to wait a little.

“Tasty Italian, not quite waterfront”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

There is a view of the water, lots of windows so it is pretty bright. The food was good, had bruschetta and a zesty tomato/seafood pasta dish. I would recommend this place for large groups and in general just for the ride along the coast.
