My wife and have vacationed in California several times, and we've driven by Sam's Chowder House many times, but we've never stopped because they were always so crowded. We were recently there again in September, and I made up my mind I was going to stop and see what all the hype was about, even if they were crowded. It was mid-week about 2:00PM when we stopped, and yes it was still crowded even at that time of the day. The atmosphere, food, and service was outstanding, and they clam chowder was the best I've ever had. I'll never drive by again... when passing through Half Moon Bay, California, we will always stop at Sam's Chowder House for some fine dinning.
