We really enjoyed our two day stay at this hotel. Though older, this hotel has no "older musty" smell. Our room had been refurbished and the decor was great. The atmosphere was incredible. It was clean. The beds very comfortable and the service was unbeatable. We did not have the opportunity to eat at their restaurant. We would gladly stay here again!

My husband and I stayed at the Half Moon Bay Inn and loved it. The service was great and the décor was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable with down comforters and pillows the sheets were Egyptian cotton. Everything was neat and clean we really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant next door was amazing and we can’t wait to go back.

This is the latest hotel to open on Half Moon Bay's Main St. Everything about the hotel's rooms feel luxurious. The mattresses are wonderful, the sheets are egyptian cotton, the comforters are down.

The prices, however, are very reasonable, depending on when you go.

The only things that would make this better would be: fireplaces in the rooms, and breakfast. However, there are plenty of yummy places to have breakfast nearby.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that does not face the heating/coiling unit, which can be a bit noisy, even with t...

First, Half Moon Bay is a charming Northern California coastal town, that has not been over commercialized. The Half Moon Bay Inn is a lovely inn, in an older building. It is wonderful, clean, comfortable and centrally located. We spent two nights in one of the suites, we were sorry to have to go. I loved the privacy and the feel of being in our own apartment. Set right downtown, east of highway 1, you can walk to restaurants and shopping. You are several blocks from the highway and several more from the beach. The innkeepers are pleasant and helpful. Quite ideal.

We choose Half Moon Bay Inn to break up our drive from Mendocino to Monterey. It was a good choice. The rooms were on the small side, but beautifully furnished, and really comfortable. The location (two blocks from the highway) makes it a good choice for travelers, as does the variety of restaurants within walking distance from the Inn. Take note that the Inn favors herbal soaps and other fragrances which I found off-putting (I'm the kind of person who does not like body lotions or perfumes). Although some of the reviews complain about noise from the restaurant, we did not find this to be a problem on our stay, perhaps because it was quite cold and so we kept our windows and door to the patio closed. The owner was very helpful on the phone with decisions about which rooms would work best for our family. Compared to other towns on the California coast (such as Mendocino or Monterrey), I wouldn't consider Half Moon Bay a destination city, but I would stay at Half Moon Bay Inn again if I happened to be in the area.

Room Tip: Call the Inn before you book on line to discuss the various options -- for example, we had a shared...

We stayed in a cottage suite for 2 nights. It was utterly adorable and charming. I loved the furnishings. It felt like we had our own studio apartment, and was so much nicer than staying in a regular hotel. I had only a few minor complaints. The internet connection was sluggish, and would constantly freeze up, which was quite frustrating. My second issue was with the bed. It was extremely soft. I prefer a firmer mattress. (It was beautiful and comfy, but just to soft for me…) Lastly, the noise from the restaurant below is pretty much constant. I think the only quiet hours were from midnight to 7am. It didn’t bother me too much, but if you’re sensitive to that, you might want to take it into consideration. The innkeeper is very nice and accommodating. I would stay here again, but I would like to try the colossal king room next time.

My wife and I stayed here two nights, in two different rooms. We showed up and were greeted by the owner and a friend of hers. We sat down and drank a glass of wine while checking in and enjoyed the conversation that erupted. Immensely pleasant and unobligated experience. The first night we stayed in one of the cottage suites. We simply adored this room. I felt much more like I was renting out an apartment in the heart of a quaint Italian village, than being in a run of the mill suite at any named hotel chain. The room overlooked the restaurant It's Italia that shared the same complex of structures. It was simply georgeous. The furnishings and decor were lovely. The bed was uber comfortable and the kitchenette with its little table, window overlooking the patio of the restaurant, and actual brewed coffee in the room made our first night here simply perfect. The next day we transitioned to a different room (as the suite was booked the second night of our stay). We did this seemlessly and found our second room (Terrazzo Queen) to be much more quaint, but having its own unique and charming personality. It had a shared courtyard with one other room which we took advantage of that afternoon to help deal with the warmth of the day. Very well made adirondack furniture in the courtyard was fantastic for enjoying some local wine and good cheese. The Terrazzo Queen was also had its own actual brew coffeemaker with provided grounds. It did not have its own fridge, but a small communal one was located down the hall, that also acted as the storage for the cream/milk for your coffee. Be a bit wary if you decide to store something in the fridge. I put some of our uneaten cheese in there and it was gone the next morning. Not sure if it was disposed of or of someone else decided to take liberties. Not a big deal though and only worth considering if you decide to make use of the fridge. All in all our two night stay here allowed us to experience two different rooms and we enjoyed both. If given a choice we would come back and definitely book the suite for our whole stay. Thank you Half Moon Bay Inn for a lovely time!!
