“Great for a walk or run, usually not for surfing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

Hoped to surf here, but no luck even though the swell and wind were optimal. The sand bottom is fairly level all the way across, so the waves close out (break all at once). Locals say that it's much better after a big rain, because the creeks build up sand bars that can generate some nice peaks.

“Beautiful! Bring your coat.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2011

This has got to be one of the best camping areas in the United States! The views are spectacular, the town is nearby and it's a nice, quiet beach in the winter months. Be warned that the wind is steady and the breeze is cold so if you're going to walk the beach, bring a coat and hat. During wither months, there is ample parking on side streets so you won't have to pay the ten dollar state park fee.

“Very beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2011

This is a beautiful spot to relax whether summer or winter. We sat for 20 minutes on the cliff overlooking the beach. It's a gorgeous view! The waves are huge and beautiful off the water. I could see this as a nice place to stay for a day during the summer. Do yourself a favor and park a bit farther down the street. It is 10$ to pay for parking in the beach parking lot. However, you can park a 5 minute walk down the road for free.

We enjoy a long walk with the kids and the place was not so crowded at all...must go if you are planning to visit the San Francisco, CA and surrounding areas.
