This motel is in the small town of El Granada, a few miles north of the town of Half Moon Bay. Located across the highway from the Pillar Point Harbor, within walking distance of the harbor with shops & restaurants. We were on the first floor, so our view of the harbor & ocean was severely limited. I think having a second floor room would have solved that.
The room was very clean, modern decor. Comfortable queen sized bed. HUGE flat screen TV, refrigerator & microwave (both at our request), a coffeemaker, large dresser, desk, window seat (needs a cushion/pad!!), and 2 comfy chairs. (a small table would have been nice). Needs a trash receptacle in the bedroom. Bathroom was very nice, very clean. Nice soft towels. Has a hair dryer & iron. Love the modern shower with 3 sprays! There are no towel racks to hang the hand towels & used bath towels.
This was not a very quiet room, as we could hear the creaking of the floor above us as people moved around. The door to the room next door was very creaky so that every time someone came & went it created some noise, also. The highway noise was bothersome, but did die down late at night. The foghorn does go off every 7 seconds (I timed it), but was muffled somewhat with the drapes closed. The WORST noise was at 4 AM one morning when 2 huge semis (18 wheelers) that were parked right outside started up their engines and let them warm up for 15 minutes, right on the street in front of the motel, only a few feet away from our window. That was horrible. The motel should not allow the large trucks to park there and disturb their occupants. The semis could have parked down in the huge harbor parking lot.
We opted not to partake of their nice looking continental breakfast just because we wanted something more substantial plus it would have been difficult to eat off the trays in our room since there was no table in the room. There is a WONDERFUL restaurant next door, Cafe Classique which has GREAT breakfasts, and the coffee is splendid. (try the Rocket Espresso!)
The front desk woman (sorry, didn't get her name) was AWESOME! She came to our room to help us figure out how to use the TV. (we are admittedly techno-phobes). She was very friendly.
Overall, except for a few minor inconveniences and the horrid truck experience, we enjoyed our stay. We would stay there again, but next time request an upstairs room and bring earplugs plus a sleep aid. :-)
