“Convenient, friendly, confortable, and affordable!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2011

A good hotel in my opinion. In a town where spending anything less than $200 a night seems to be an impossibility, it's a breath of fresh air to have a place like the Harbor View Inn. Very friendly front office folks, clean rooms, and coupons for local restaurants made me and my lady happy campers.
Pros:
- cafe next door has great food and great live music
- 5 minutes walk to beach
- 10 minute walk to south parking are at airport (we flew in to HAF airport in a Cessna)
- 50% cheaper than other area accomodations
- 3 blocks walk to the best restaurant in the area, Cafe Gibraltar
- hot showers, free wi-fi, and an all you can eat breakfast consisting of: cereal, milk, juice, oatmeal, yogurt, and hot chocolate. Can't go wrong with that!

Cons:
- none really.
- I guess if I had to be picky, the room looks a bit dated. But everything was clean and worked well, so we can't complain too much.

In summary, I'd come here again.

f$130.00 per night we get very old mattress, old 19inch TV. work needed shower. Motel 6 quality rooms. Maybe they have updated the rooms but sure not this downstairs old room. Office only open during the day and no guest services offer. Breakfast are coffee and sweets only. We book online can not change the reservation on the date of arrival. Should stay other Franchised property with same price. Never stay here again.

We only stayed at this hotel/motel for one night on Aug 18, 2011 as we were making our way down from San Francisco to Los Angeles during our 2 weeks West Coast trip.

GOOD: Conveniently located off Hwy 1, we booked it ahead of time for its cheaper price at $110 +tax/night compared to anything else nearby. The continental breakfast was nothing more than some cereal boxes, orange juice and coffee, but it sufficed for what we needed. We arrived pretty late at midnight and the lady at the front desk was nice and accommodating. Free WI-FI was a plus.

BAD: Well, it is really only a motel so don’t expect much. The wallpaper was falling off in some places and there was even a big dent in one of the walls. The beds were so and so in terms of comfort, but we were too tired too notice. The bathtub/shower seemed moldy on the sides, but the bathroom was very clean nonetheless.

In any case, not much else to say especially since I don’t know much about the area and what other hotels/motels it has to offer.

At $400+ per night we couldn't afford a room at The Ritz, so we had to settle for the Harbor View Inn. And yes, you get what you pay for.

This is a lower end motel, nothing fancy and nothing to write home about. Check in was fine, the king room was clean, but the mattress was about the worst thing I've ever slept on...it was hard as a rock. The bathroom was clean and the towels were fresh; soap and shampoo were readily available.

Fine for one night, but I would not stay here again, simply because of the highway noise. Also, the location of this motel hardly qualifies as Half Moon Bay...it's more like El Granada.

We stayed in this hotel on two different occasions- one over the winter holidays and we had a wonderful time. The staff is tremendously helpful, the view is just perfect and the renovations are truly changing this little place. I would go back again any day.

My husband and I were traveling down the coast and decided to stop in Half Moon Bay for the night. We saw this hotel from the road and checked out prices etc on my Trip Advisor iphone app (great app!). The price was reasonable so I called and booked it. The young woman at the front desk was a sweetheart. She showed us the one room left at the lower price ($118 I think) and also showed us the newly redecorated rooms upstairs. The updated room still smelled of new paint and carpeting (ew) so we chose the downstairs old style room which was just fine. Clean and a comfy bed, all we needed. No view but we were ok with that. No fridge though which would have been nice for the "road food" and drinks that we had with us.
After an excellent meal at the Chowder House across the street a ways, we settled in to watch a little tv. All we could find at first was station after station of Bollywood dancing and other east Indian type entertainment. We called the front desk to ask how to get english speaking stations. She gave us instructions and we found some reruns but everytime we changed channels it reverted to Bollywood!
Since this hotel is situated right on the highway there are traffic sounds all night. And first thing in the morning (before 8) they were picking up trash right out front and I mean right outside the window. Our room was #1 which is right next to the office. Probably the noisiest location. We grumbled a bit but had a good shower which put us in a better mood.
All in all, a nice clean but noisy place for a night's stay. Would we return? Probably not.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the office and top floor is probably quieter.

we stay there family of five for one night in July. As soon as we arrive the nice lady from the front desk i think her name Tania) apologies and told us that since the one big room that we booked was out of order she gave us two connected rooms. in all our stay she was very warm and helpful.
the rooms were designed simple but were clean and overall cozy.
the noise from the high seems to be a bit of problem but is was value for the money and for one night or two its really recommended.
