“Awesome Seaside Golf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2011

Recently played Half Moon Bay's Ocean Course. Greens fee was approx $150 on GolfNow.com. Regular rate approx. $200.
The previous post has various negative comments-some are true, but would definitely give Half Moon a try.
Note that previous poster lives near the ocean. For those of us who don't see the ocean except for a special week of vacation each year, this course has wonderful views on nearly every hole.
The course is not manicured like Augusta, but is in very good to excellent condition. Not a problem for anyone.
In addition to being able to see the Pacific from nearly every hole, the last 4 holes play right along the ocean. Beautiful.
Let's do some comparison shopping for Northern California golf....Pebble is over $500. Obviously a better course, but very expensive. Cypress Point is beautiful and approx. $350. Spanish Bay is a very tight course, but has the benefit of being near Pebble Beach. No course in San Francisco offers the views of the ocean that Half Moon offers.

Warning: Play the Ocean course. The old course only has 2 holes on the water.

For the price and the view....Half Moon is beyond compare

“Hoping for a poor man's Peble Beach....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2010

Played the Ocean course. Would never pay rack rate or even close but for a $60.00 twilight it was ok. Expected more from a course associated with a Ritz Carlton. Most views were pleasant but hardly breathtaking. Course not particularly manicured. Surprised they did not have a gps system on the carts. No help with the clubs either coming or going. Lots of pedestrian and bicycle activity on the cart paths which was annoying. Wouldn't call it destination golf.

“Absolutely Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2009

I played the Ocean Course with a friend, and the course was in perfect condition. Sitting by the ocean side, the view from many holes was absolutely stunning. With a castle like Ritz Carlton in the backdrop, I felt like I was playing a famous links course in Scotland. The green fee is little high but the view alone worth every penny. I am definitely returning here to play Old Course.

“Half Moon Bay Golf, Ocean Course”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2008

Played the ocean course on 9/19/08. It was challenging and would definitely be easier with some local course knowledge. The back nine plays a little tougher because there are more blind shots off the tee. Also it was cart paths only because of the upcoming LPGA tourney so that was a royal pain (I would have walked but they don't rent pull carts and I can't carry). They treat you first class. The starter was very helpful and informative. The course is in great shape but the rough is very long and thick and difficult to get out of even with a decent lie. THis course is worth the $205 per round for sure. Great views of the ocean on a few holes but not all of them. Don't miss this course!

“Stunning views, great golf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2008

We booked the Ocean course in the morning and the Old Course in the afternoon, which is the exact right order. The Ocean course has stunning views, dramatic cliffs, but the course is -especially for ladies- not very challenging (there are 2 par threes with 70 and 82 yards respectively). The old course is great to play and coming in on the 18th gives a fantastic view. If you have to choose between the 2 course, go for the Old Course.
