A lot of great things have been happening on the food scene in Guerneville in the last couple of years, and Hi Five is the best so far. This Korean pop-up in the lovable greasy spoon Pat's Diner is open evenings-only, 7 days a week and serves a delightful menu of modern funky spicy food. The KFC (Korean Fried Crack - aptly named) requires you to lick your fingers because otherwise you'll get spicy honey sauce all over yourself. The kale and soba noodle bowl is mellow; best order the kimchi and pickled jalapenos as an accompaniment. Deep fried PBJ, mac and cheese with korean beef short ribs, and sides of slaw and buttered grilled white toast are what make this a 'fusion' concept. Wine selection was limited, but a full drink menu is available from Pat's bar next door, and as an added bonus, Hi Five is featuring Paul Mathew's wines from Graton.
If you love the Russian River, sit in the front room where you can study the 50's-era map of local fishing holes.
