oh it pains me to say this was the only mistake of my trip to SF area, because the people were nice. I knew this was a utilitarian hotel (55 / night) and figured who cares? I'll hardly be in my room. However. Guerneville is a very small town, and there are a LOT of homeless people which in a town this size is really noticeable. They're at the beach, on the streets, on the blocks off the main street. The townsfolk seem very tolerant of this, however, as a lone woman I didn't feel altogether safe at night walking around and when I asked a local waitress if that was silly she said no.That left me stuck in a featureless room with a big boxy tv, fridge & microwave stacked on a dresser and a tiny high window. Walls are paper thin, the bar downstairs (and also across the street) is loud. I could hear people knocking on the door of the adjacent room as if it were mine. Sort of seems like people get too drunk to drive home and stay at this place. I found it hard to relax in this place with all the noise and coming and going, and after 6 pm there wasn't much else going on and nowhere to go. On the upside, the Guerneville area is stunning. Take the trip to Jenner (seal beach as the locals call it) and back for breathtaking views.
