We've stayed around Guerneville for the Vineman three times (staying at different places each time), and found this lodge to be a good location if you'd like to walk or bike to the Vineman start at Johnson's Beach. And if you're prepared for glamorous camping ("glamping"), then you're set.
We felt like we were having a sleepover in a backyard treehouse. The cottages have no refrigerators, coffee makers, or air conditioning (the heaters are okay though). My husband had to duck in the doorways to the sitting area and second bedroom--very low door frames. Also, our kids were afraid when we walked back to the cottage in the dark (okay, we were all afraid), and we were thankful that our cell phones had flashlights. The lights in the trees don't go out to the last few cottages. And my husband thought he saw a fox. This is all fun if you're prepared for camping but not so fun if you didn't intend to go camping and were paying the price of a nice hotel.
The restaurant is a complete contrast to the surrounding glamping atmosphere. I dressed in "camping grunge" in the morning and went to get breakfast with my kids, but then I felt very out of place when we sat down in the restaurant (it's very nice).
If my husband does the Vineman again, I will only stay at this place if the rates better reflect the glamping environment (and if we bring a cooler, and we stay in a cottage with better outside lighting).
