“Very nice - a few cosmetic improvements would make it fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

We turned up on spec having eaten in Gualala and it had got dark. The place looked deserted. It seemed a bit pricey when we asked but decided to stay and were pleased we did. The rooms are huge and face straight onto the pacific. We then found out the room had a whirlpool, and a fake log fire. The whirlpool was great - only downside was that the whole room filled with chlorine smelling steam and took a while to clear. The log fire was a great idea but it didn't work. We then found a complimentary bottle of sparkling apple juice. Was great to sit out on the balcony and drink it - shame they had only provided cheap plastic chairs to sit on. The bed was very comfortable; unfortunately the TV looked to be 20 years old and the remote control didnt work properly.

There was only one other couple staying in the place the night we were there - surprising they don't drop their prices more and/or improve their marketing in the quiet periods to atract more customers........

One final thing - they didn't offer any breakfast. This was very unusual given the price charged and they fact they had a huge lobby that wasnt being used for anything.

We stayed here one night on our way down the coast. The views from our room were amazing! The sun set over the Pacific was beautiful. The rooms were nice, with large windows overlooking the ocean. The whirlpool tub was a nice treat after the gorgeous sunset. The staff was friendly and courteous, offering numerous dinner options.
This hotel is a must if you are going to be in the Gualala area.

Very clean, delightful staff, comfortable bed. We stayed in the top floor, it had vaulted ceilings so the room feels bigger. (spend the extra $10.00 for upstairs if possible) The little balcony outside your room overlooking the ocean and the sunset, what else needs to be said. We had spectacular weather. You are on the coast though and the ocean is at your back door, so a coat or sweater is a good thing to pack. Easy ride up the north highway one.

My wife and I stayed last christmas here. The staff was maybe a little rough around the edges, but it is Gualala. I must say the whole area can be a bit rough.
The room though, what a treat. What you are getting is an unobstructed view of the ocean from about 70 feet up. We just sat all day in the two recliners watching the river feed into the ocean. I couldn't have asked for a better relaxing day.

We paid $140 a night for a first floor room (before taxes). Price was well worth it because:
1) the room overlooked the beach and ocean. From our private balcony, we watched the sun set. We both agreed the view was one of the best we have ever had from a hotel room (keep in mind that I am middle aged, not easily impressed and cynical);
2) after dark, the view of the sky was beyond incredible: we saw the milky way, the dippers, and thousands of stars;
3) the bathroom is huge and features a two person jacuzzi;
4) the room has a gas fireplace;
5) the room is a decent size and decorated in a cottage motif; and
6) lots of restaurants and a supermarket which sells champagne within walking distance.
Our only complaint was that the television was a small box left over from the early 80s (I am not joking). We compensated by sitting outside and watching the sky instead.
If you want to bring romance back into your relationship (or seduce somebody), stay here.

I found Seacliff on Trip Advisor, and I was thrilled that they had a room available for my one free weekend before school starts up again. It is a drive from Sacramento, but the 30-degree drop in temperature alone made the trip worthwhile. We were greeted when we arrived and given our room immediately. We weren't there early enough to see the sunset, but the view of the moon on the water of both the ocean and the Gualala River was wonderful. It was also soothing to be able to hear the sound of the ocean through our window, and the second night I got to see three otters playing in the river. That was very cool.
Location is a big deal, but I have stayed at hotels in beautiful places and had less than stellar experiences because of the service. I would say almost the exact opposite was true of our experience here. Our trip was almost ruined when we locked our car keys in the trunk on our last day. AAA was no help and we were almost to the point of breaking into our car ourselves when Nola, the lady working this morning, stepped in. She knew exactly who to call -- Skyway Towing -- and they sent someone right out. Had she not gone above and beyond, we would have spent a lot more money and time.

Great value in the off season when they run internet specials. The view from every room is fantastic. Quiet. Right in town within walking distance of restaurants, shopping. Having a small refrig and micro are great. We walk to the store, get some deli hot dishes or salad bar, bring it back and enjoy the view. No breakfast included, but Trinks in the same shopping area has great pastries. And for dessert, gelato. Furniture could use a little updating, but minor when compared to the view.
