“Weekender cabin stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

Location was great - less than 10 minutes to Yosemite's west entrance. Setting peaceful with a river running through the property and lovely forest surrounding. Stayed with a friend who has a camp membership so she got us a weekender cabin. These are basically a single wide shorter Cavco manufactured/mobile with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a loft. Since there seemed to be a heat wave going on, was sure thankful for the air conditioning! Appreciated the kitchen where we could make meals also. My rating of this property has more to do with the condition of the rest of the property than the cabin in which we stayed. It seems a bit run-down. Lots of places need coats of paint and/or repair. Even the grounds need better maintenance. Usually I like mini-golf, but didn't even try when I saw its condition. Nice to have wifi at the lodge in case of emergency. You had to be right at the building for it to work. Other guests said that they had stayed at other properties within the same membership and they offered them morning coffee, etc. but none here. They said there was usually a pool or Jacuzzi too but none here. Had not stayed at any others so could not compare. Nice hiking trails. Saw folks fishing in the river also. Bottom line is depending on what your expectations are, you could have a nice time.

Room Tip: There are only 4 weekender cabins and one of them is totally ADA accessible and is set up differentl...

Yosemite Lakes was not our first choice and when we return to Yosemite I would not stay there again. Our family rented a tent site and found the area over crowded. Our campsite area and many on that tenting loop were on sloped ground which makes it difficult to set up a tent. Many other campers sort of set up nearer to the road making it difficult to travel in and out of the tenting loop.

At the time we visited Yosemite Lakes there was a fire ban which was good because our camp spot did not have a fire pit anyway. The spot next to us and across from us did have fire pits which makes you wonder why wouldn't all the tenting site have the same set up.

During our visit the ladies room nearest our tent loop was "Out Of Order". So it was bit of a longer walk up the road to the next washroom/ shower hut. This normally wouldn't be a problem except that is where the Go America Adventure Tours set up and there are literally dozens of tents and campers set up there. It was a very LONG wait for a shower and the one operating shower was very dirty (thank goodness for shower sandals). On a positive note the showers were hot and had great pressure!

I would hope that in the future if there is an ongoing problem with the bathrooms that maybe the facility's managers could set up some sort of temporary port-a-potty or something like that to compensate for the ladies room being closed for days.

Yosemite Lakes has a very nice laundry facility with front load washing machines that did a great job on our dirty hiking clothes. There is a wifi hot spot that I did not get the chance to use however the woman at the registration desk did tell us that it wasn't great.

The area is beautiful and you can reserve a spot in advance which is comforting. I would recommend booking in the park well in advance if you can. Getting into and out of Yosemite involves driving a lot of up hill winding roads. Staying in the park would maximize the time you can take in all the beauty and adventure that Yosemite has to offer.

Enjoy!

Room Tip: Try and arrive early enough to get a tent site nearest to the river, the sites are flatter and more...

I liked this place, they have a choice of cabins, yurt, tent or hostel.
I chose the hostel, all the rooms are similar except in number of people to sleep in them.
There was no room service & no pool.(your camping)
They did have swimming in the river if you wanted to .
The Resort is located about 5 min from Yosemite.

The Yurt was lovely. Very spacious and clean. However the staff made my stay not relaxing or enjoyable. I paid a premium to not have to rough it while still feeling like we were camping. Our stay was for one night. Check in is a 4. Power was out from 5pm to 4am. I realize that the power outage was out of their control, but someone could have come by to let us know that the power was out (we did not know if it was just our cabin yurt or not), and when it was expected to come back on. When the power was not on after dark, someone should have come by to make sure we were ok and brought candles or flashlights. Because we were renting with a refrigerator, someone should have made sure we had ice to keep food from spoiling. The staff was unfriendly and downright rude. Never apologized for the inconvenience just said it was "not their fault the power went out". It's too bad because with the right management this could be a great place. They clearly have no concept of customer service or host. We will not be back.

We stayed there in our trailer over the Fourth of July weekend (reservations made about 2 weeks before so limited choices).

Pros:
Close to park entrance
Some shade in our very small spot (we could park there b/c the trailer is small enough)
Water/sewer/power
Clean restrooms
Near small convenience store/gas station

Cons:
You can only stay in the lower campground if you are a Thousand Trails member, so our choices were very limited.
No trash service in the park - just one dumpster behind the store that we found by accident (two different employees could not tell us where a trash can was or what to do with trash)
Very, very small spaces with no privacy

We arrived on a Wednesday and were offered our choice of several tent sites. Having not been here before we were allowed to drive through and choose whatever site we liked - we chose P03. The site was roomy, had 2 picnic tables, a fire ring and had private access to the river. There is a great swimming area where many kids gather which also doubles as a fishing spot.

It was a short walk to the club house with wifi, tv, pool and ping pong. The club house was a bit messy from some teenage campers with no respect for other people. The only reason that I did not rate a 5 is due to the fact that the amenities in the club house were in poor condition. The pool table only had 2 cues and no chalk, the ping pong table paddles were in need of SEVERE repair or replacement. The lighting upstairs was nearly non-existent.

Overall the grounds and restrooms were clean and well maintained. Our site was comfortable and roomy. 95% of the staff was friendly and courteous and we enjoyed our nightly serenade of "Zippety Do Da, Zippety ay" from one staff member. The country store up-the-hill had a good variety of staples and accessories that one might need, and the prices were consistent with those of an out-of-the-way convenience store.

My 2 sons and I enjoyed our time at this property and will definitely return.

Room Tip: Tent site P03 is the best in the area!

Our two kids (4 and 6) loved the playground and dated activities (mini put, shuffleboard, horseshoes). Spots are close together and there is not much privacy but we liked it for easy commute into Yosemite with full RV hook ups and easy fun for the kids.
