“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

We went to yosemite and were looking for an hotel not too exspensive and no too far away of the national park. I called them to book the room and directly i had a good feeling with the employe... It will be confirmed some days after when we arrived to the hotel : clean, beautifull in a nice little town... We sleept really well and the breakfast was delicius and various! Thx to the team of the hotel! Benoit ( France)

We stayed 2 night here on a weekend Yosemite trip and it was great! We hit traqffic on our way down and called to say we'd be arriving late. They left a key under the mat for us and everything we needed to get to our cozy room and rest up before our big day in the park! The room was clean and comfortable. Very homey.

The included breakfast was great and definitely a cut above your average hotel breakfast. They were really helpful in giving us options on how to plan our day and make the most of our short trip.

We went to Mono Lake (abt 2 hour drive from the hotel... more bc you'll want to stop at the beautiful outlooks, lakes, etc on the way!) and swung through the Yosemite Valley at sunset on our way back. Had dinner nd drinks at the Iron Door Saloon across the street (supposedly the oldest saloon in CA, couldn't resist!) and then Sunday drove down to Mariposa Grove to see the sequoias. It was an action packed and beautiful trip!

Four of us stayed here after reading reviews on trip advisor. Assigned to a condo and upon arrival found it was all updated, but carpet. The carpet was so dirty and stained, I called the main desk. We were immediately moved to the Wisteria Condo. It was average, but had portable water cooled units. No cool air, contacted desk and they sent someone out the next day while we were out. They did not cool, but front desk said the unit was cool when maintenance man left. It was an oven when we returned at 6pm. Washer leaked and caused large bubble in kitchen ceiling. I would not ever stay here again no matter how close to Yosemite. I did tell desk of problems upon check out and emailed owners without any response.

Room Tip: Ask for a room/condo that has been completely refurbished.

Dear ladytravelerAlabama,

We appreciate your feedback and following your stay, did immediately address the issues you have highlighted above. Unfortunately, some guests do not treat rental units with as much care as we would hope and the unit you were first staying in did have stained carpets. We have professionally cleaned the carpets multiple times this summer, but some stains will not come out. As you mentioned, we immediately moved you to another unit. We will be going through all of our vacation rentals this winter and replacing the carpet with hardwood floors to allow for easier cleaning. Wisteria Condo was a vacation rental that we were managing for another person this past summer. It is the only unit that we had in our inventory that did not have central AC. Following your stay given the issues of the inconsistent AC unit and the leak with the washer, we removed it from our inventory and no longer rented it. We would be more than happy to extend a free night stay in one of our rentals if you are in our area again. I apologize for not getting a response to you sooner, but I did not receive your email with your feedback. We greatly value guest opinions and I make every effort possible to provide a response to each guest. Safe travels

We have stayed at the Hotel Charlotte three times on our annual trips to Yosemite. We were very pleasantly surprised by all the changes the new owners Doug & Jenn have made. The rooms are being upgraded one by one. On this last trip, even though it wasn't newly renovated, our room was very comfortable. The lobby has wonderful deep couches that invite you to sink in and relax. We visited on Halloween night and had a blast watching the annual kids' costume parade and trick-or-treating through the main street while we sipped cocktails and wine at the newly renovated bar. As someone else mentioned, the bar has great atmosphere and all the locals we met and talked to that night were very friendly! Love this place!

I stayed here the night before travelling into Yosemite National Park. The staff were really friendly, the room was very nice. I stayed in one of the smaller rooms, but it was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good, with hot options as well as the usual breads, cereals, etc...

Thanks to the government shutdown and uncertain reservations in Yosemite we needed to find somewhere to stay outside of the park. Our helpful B&B hosts in Mariposa told us the area was full of “old saloon towns” and that we might have luck in Groveland. We discovered Hotel Charlotte on an internet search. Linda? was friendly and sympathetic when we called to inquire about availability and held a room for us. The main street of Oakdale is about two blocks long and does have a saloon look to it. It also boasts the oldest Saloon in the state of California (see review). Friendly owners Jenn & Doug were there when we checked-in. They encouraged us to join the restaurant and while we would have enjoyed the menu (local, organic) we were starving at 4pm and couldn’t wait for the restaurant to open. (With everything closed in Yosemite we never had lunch.) Our room was pleasant and the bed comfortable. The lobby and bistro have a relaxed, rustic, hip vibe. Breakfast included a nice selection of eggs, cereal, yogurt, etc. along with some great coffee from Firefall Coffee. It was so good in fact that we went across the street and bought some to bring home. The guy (GM?) who handled breakfast was very upbeat, enthusiastic and clearly happy to be there. Jenn and Doug are doing a nice job of creating a homey, mountain-y feel without all the usual frilly Victorian décor. We love that they are offering something different in both style and menu.

Room Tip: Our room was towards the back of the hotel and may have been quieter than those up front and closer...

Stopped here for a night after a long drive from San Francisco. A very warm welcome and great atmosphere in the hotel bar. Disappointed that we had already eaten as the dinner menu looked great. Would recommend for a stay before/after a long day in Yosemite.
