We stayed at the Evergreen Lodge for 1 night before going on to Yosemite. We had our 2 kids with us, 12 and 2. Both kids loved the cabin and property, so did we.
We stayed in a newer cabin (M9), which is in the back of the property, very quiet, clean and warm. You can pull your car close to the cabin and unload but then you park your car down in a lot, it isn't far from the cabin, it is nice to look out the window and not see or hear cars.
The cabin was spotless, however is smelled really bad in the living room. I can't identify the odor but it was pretty bad. We got used to it though and didn't let it bother us. The heaters kept the place nice and toasty warm, the Sirius radio was fun to have, the fridge seemed nice and cold and ready to hold your small stash of drinks and food. The bathroom was huge, very clean and had plenty of towels and toiletries. Our bedroom was cute and comfy. For a small family staying for a while, I would be worried about drawer space for clothes, I like to unpack when someplace more than overnight, there is just 1 small dresser in the cabin. Very nice balcony off the living room looking out over the trees.
We were greeted by friendly staff everywhere we went. They offered free s'mores fixings in the lodge along with tons of boardgames and stuff for kids and adults to play with. They were also showing a movie and having a pool tournament, we didn't go to either one of those though.
We were there for just one night so we didn't use any of their guided tour services but they looked fun.
Drawback- the food situation. You are really dependant on them for all your food and drinks, unless you bring plenty of your own or drive really far. They do not let you cook/bbq in or around your cabin. We only ate dinner there, burgers, they were great and the service was perfect, but they were $9 burgers. That's pretty much the cheapest thing on the limited menu, but it was yummy, big portions. Two coffees the next morning were $4.50 for both and it was not good coffee at all.
They have a general store there too, we didn't go in, but it looked like it was full of all those things you might have forgotten at home and bagged lunch items, etc.
We definately want to return, I am already looking into booking a long weekend, but we will probably bring a cooler with plenty of our own food and drinks though.
