“Hostess with the Mostess!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

My husband and I made reservations to stay two nights in a row; however, we wanted to change it due to having a rafting trip in between. Tim, the owner was so very accommodating to our stay, which was consistent throughout our trip. He let us do laundry, and even brought his dogs over (since we missed ours). Tim even made breakfast according to when we wanted to get up, etc since we had early mornings with a river rafting trip. Most of all, we loved to hear his stories. Tim is a great guy and someone that fits very well with the B&B business, perfect fit! We could have sat and drank coffee with him all day just listening to his stories and very easy going attitude. We would definitely recommend this place to someone, about an hour to Yosemite Valley area. Also recommend the mexican restaurant in groveland!

Room Tip: I would recommend the ground level, amazing views of the Sierra hills.

My wife and I stayed with Tim Foiles for a couple of nights when visiting Yosemite, and we have only good things to say. The room was big and clean, the bathroom the same. The innkeeper Tim is very helpful and kind. He whipped up a solid breakfast and shared stories and useful tips of the area, making each morning a delightful experience. Great value for money & wholeheartedly recommended.

This B&B was great - large room, king bed, full private bath across the hall, step out on the patio outside the room and you are overlooking the valley and next ridge, you feel like you are near the top of the world. The common areas are nice - he built a fire in the beautiful living room upstairs, and there is a large, more casual common area downstairs, where most of the rooms are, with tables, chairs, games, and a small kitchen which could easily be used (we ate out). His breakfasts weren't fancy, but were delicious - fresh fruit, eggs, blueberry pancakes (yumm!!!), biscuits. ANd he is a very nice man, interesting to talk to, willing to help with anything. His wife was also quite nice and friendly, but he's the host. Short drive into Groveland (~1 mile). A very good value, and a terrific place to stay. We hope to go back again.

Room Tip: All of them were quite good.

This was a fantastic little find. Located just outside Groveland on the way to Yosemite you’ll find this wonderful little recently renovated B&B. We stayed in the forest room downstairs and had a roll away bed for my girlfriend’s 12 year old son which was perfect. The room was well appointed and had everything we needed. The private bathroom was just across the hall (not in the room itself) and at first, I thought that may be a problem but as it turned out was not. Downstairs there is a little kitchen that was great for making dinner and packed lunches for the days out in Yosemite. The breakfasts were wonderful and filling – so much that we could have gone without the packed lunches! Our host Tim was wonderful. Not only did he fill us to the brim with coffee, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. He was full of useful information and a great sense of humour which made it difficult to leave the table with interesting after interesting story. The drive to the park is lovely and the 24 miles goes by very quickly. Value for money was unbelievable! We would highly recommend this B&B and will be staying here next time we visit Yosemite.

Room Tip: get one of the rooms downstairs

The Alpenglo is a B&B run by Tim and Tim is one of the most awesome persons we've met during our US trip. Of course, just having an awesome host wont do the trick, but in this case the awesome host was complimented by great rooms, a breakfast suited for champions (loved the blueberry pancakes) and a stellar (literally) view during day and (especially) during night. For all the stargazers out there, if you want a top-notch view of the skies, STAY HERE and use Tim's telescope to check out the stars.

Groveland in general is a great place to stay if you are planning to cruise Yosemite, but even if you just want to stay in Groveland and just cocoon there, the Alpenglo is the ultimate get-a-way. Just outside of Groveland you will find a dusty road uphill where you will find Tim chopping some wood outside of his home.

When you get in the Inn and check out the views, you will instantly fall in love with the place. Yes, it is not inexpensive (we paid 145$ per night) but, it is well worth it.

By the way, for all you guys travelling the States and trying the local water supplies, US water sucks! It's full of chlorine and tastes like a swimmingpool. This is why we were pleasantly surprised by the water in Groveland / Alpenglo Inn... It was the best water we had in the States! Even better than bottled water.

Me and my friend stayed at Alpenglo while visiting Yosemite. The rooms are big, each with a separate .nice clean bathroom. Breakfast is served when you want it and will not disappoint you (unless you are trying to loose weight). Tim (owner) is the nicest guy and will offer to help you out in any way he can. I just wish I got to enjoy the place a bit more.
