“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Had never been to groveland before but purchased the deal from living social so that we could visit Yosemite. The groveland hotel is a great place to stay. The building is a landmark so it really has the gold country charm. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We received champaine and chocolate covered stawberries that were delicious, free breakfasts both days and a voucher for the hotel restaurant. The breakfasts were really good but the dinner was excellent. Try the rib eye or BBQ ribs, so good! Has an in house bar with a friendly bartender but it closes early. The staff are all so nice and work hard to make you feel at home. Take advantage of the half off massage, Brian does a great job and really gets all the kinks out. Barbara at the front desk was great with all the accommodations, even provided me a free toothbrush because I'd forgotten mine! The beds were very comfortable, maybe feather, the bedding was definitly feather so it was easy to snuggle in. My freind love seeing the hocky network on the tv so that was an unexpected treat. There is a wine tasting that also goes with the deal but we didnt find the time to take advantage of this. Groveland is 20 minutes from the Yosemite gate and an hour from the village so you get a reasonable priced trip, Yosemite, a fun old style saloon across the street (oldest in CA, pricy drinks but a lot of fun) and friendly warm accommodations. If you want a change from the sterile, corporate type trip where you feel like a walking wallet, try this war, friendly hotel where the owner makes a point to thank each guest for visiting and the staff is so nice that it's contagious! You'll leave smiling...

Room Tip: We stayed in the o'shawnasy suite, two twin beds. Like most Victorians, rooms are on the small s...

A last minute decision to take an overnight trip to Yosemite National Park left me looking for options near the park. Groveland, while near the Hetch Hetchy entrance, is still a distance from the Village and Yosemite's famous sites, but it is also your last chance for a great, small hotel and a good meal in a restaurant that has an award winning wine list. The hotel is historic (aka - old) but is very comfortable, very clean, quiet and filled with all the amenities you would expect to find at a high end boutique property. Bedding is top quality; towels are thick and soft; and the bath products are by Agraria. Groveland itself has little to offer in the way of entertainment or nightlife but if you want to be close to, but not inside of Yosemite Park (and the high prices for lodging that don't compare to the Groveland), this is the place for you.

Room Tip: The rooms that face the street have easy access to the big front porch.

I really enjoy visiting places with a story, so this historic building was completely enchanting. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the room top notch. My husband and I loved this Inn!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Iron Door room. When we called to make our reservations, Joe-Ellen was extremely helpful. We were undecided with the room to select but her description made it easy!! When we arrived, Barbara greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel at home. We brought our pup with us and the hotel provided him with a bed, food bowls and a complimentary toy! We noticed a book in the room that was available to guests to make comments regarding their experience if they wish. There were many comments from international travelers who were all pleased with their stay. We dined and highly recommend the Cellar Door restaurant which is in the hotel. We'll be coming again!

Room Tip: The Iron Door room does not share walls with any other room; it's in it own corner. AND it's...

We stayed here during our visit to Yosemite. It was a charming old fashioned hotel in a quaint little town. We stayed two nights and had dinner there one of the nights. We ate on the patio and the service and food were good. If we ever are in the area again we would definitely stay there . The saloon next door was a fun experience.

My wife and I stayed a single night as part of a getaway weekend to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Its a treasure words dont begin to give justice to. Fabulous dinner (Cheese plate, New York steak to die for) and breakfast (Rafters Skillet) in the restaurant, a bed that swallows you in plush comfort and the room (We stayed in Lyles room) pegs the charming scale. An amazing experience all the way around! I can't recommend it highly enough.

My girlfriend and I arrived at Yosemite around sunset and needed a pet-friendly place to stay. The Groveland Hotel is pet AND people friendly. The service was warm and efficient, the room was comfortable, clean, quiet and stocked with a few nice amenities and the building itself is excellently maintained. The free breakfast the next day was delicious and they even gave us a free set of tire chains left by previous guests so we could enter the park! I would recommend it to anyone looking for affordable, classic 19th Century lodging while visiting Yosemite.
