“Wonderful Stay!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

This is a great family hotel. The suites are very clean and spacious for a family of 4. Wine and appetizers are served nightly; as well as cookies for the kids. The staff was more than accomodating and very hospitable. We would definitely stay here again!

I was in the Goleta/Santa Barbara area for a work trip in the fall of 2013 and we stayed at the Pacifica Suites hotel. When you first drive in it looks small and a little different, but once inside you see it's charm. It was built on the historic site of a mansion that still sits in the front.

The rooms are designed like a motel where the door opens to the outside, but the rooms are large, spacious and include a living room area separate from the bedroom. The other place where this hotel excels is the service. The front desk was friendly and personable and the breakfast (included in the rate) and nighttime drink/snack hour.

The last great point is the location. It is in the heart of Goleta and about a mile from the ocean. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

On our first visit to Santa Barbara/Goleta/Isla Vista last August (to drop our daughter off for college), we stayed at the Marriott Courtyard and had hoped to do so again for her graduation this past week. The rate I was quoted for four nights made my eyes water, so I searched for other options. TA to the rescue!

What a wonderful surprise Pacifica Suites turned out to be. Our check-in was smooth and cordial and we were on time for the complimentary cocktails (5-7 pm, Mondays-Thursdays). Wine, beer, soft drinks and a selection of appetizers (hummus and pita, salami, cheeses, chips and salsa) were available in a lovely reception room just off the lobby. Freshly-baked cookies were also served at the front desk. There was an enormous bowl of fresh apples and a coffee station for guest use around the clock. Breakfast (6:30-10:30) is included in your stay and it was magnificent: eggs, omelets, burritos, breakfast sandwiches, bacon, sausage (and their turkey counterparts), pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, hash browned potatoes, all manner of bread products…beautifully prepared and delicious. Upon check-in, guests are provided with “order forms” which you fill out and hand to the smiling man behind the counter in the breakfast room. He gives you a laminated number card and calls your number when your meal is ready. If you want to work off your breakfast binge-eating, you can swim laps in the heated pool or borrow a bicycle or wander around the lushly landscaped grounds or explore the on-site Sexton house.

Our suite (220) was lovely. A living area has a desk, a large TV on a credenza, a coffee table, a sofa (pulls out to a bed) and an upholstered chair. There is a mini-fridge in the credenza and water bottles are provided daily. Our insanely comfortable king bed (with “ordinary” and feather pillows) faced another TV. There was plenty of closet and drawer space. The bathroom amenities included Scope ® mouthwash and Philosophy ® bath gel, shampoo and conditioner and body lotion and oodles of fluffy towels. The shower had great water pressure. There were lots of outlets and plenty of lighting. Housekeeping was stellar.

Our only concerns were extremely minor: one of our keycards was especially recalcitrant, which made entering our room a challenge in a fun, minor-Olympic-sport way; and the bedside clock didn’t work. Since I only brought up the latter issue with the front desk and assured them I would sort it out myself, I have no room to quibble.

I would be very remiss if I didn’t mention some of the wonderful folks who staff this place: Kristen, Ruby, Alex and especially Lauren, who should consider a career as a life coach or therapist if she decides to chuck the hospitality industry. You four and your co-workers are a real credit to both your parents and Pacifica Suites and you all deserve a ginormous raise.

I am recommending this hotel to friends who plan to travel to the Santa Barbara area and I would leap—LEAP WITH A JOYFUL HEART AND A SHRIEK OF GLEE--at the chance to stay here again.

This hotel is one of our favorites when in the Santa Barbara area. The accommodations are always clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff are exceptional and responsive to all requests. The breakfast is cooked to order and the kitchen staff are always friendly and accommodating. It's easy to see that they take pride in their property and is a reflection on the management. During our most recent stay, The GM, Tiffany and front desk clerk, Kristen, were extremely helpful. We had a bit of a last minute problem with another hotel's reservation but they came through with generous accommodations and even extended our stay even though it was such a late request. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!! Our stays here over the years has encouraged us to explore other Pacifica hotels throughout the coastal area. Many thanks for a job well done!!!

The evenings have a wine and beer happy hour for free as well! The beds are very comfortable and rooms clean! I will continue to stay here!

We needed to attend a family wedding in Santa Barbara and were concerned because of high prices in the area for many properties that seemed so-so. We are retired and not on an expense account so we have to watch of travel costs. We stumbled across Pacifica Suites in reviews for areas just outside Santa Barbara. After reading reviews of many in this area, decided to try this. We were just a bit dubious until we arrived. They exceeded expectations in every area. Stayed for three nights over a long weekend for the wedding. All staff that we interacted with were exceptional, from the front desk, maid service, to the breakfast buffet staff. We had a two room suite, not large rooms, but very clean with everything in good condition. Everything looked fresh and modern, not like some of the photos we had seen on the website. We had our choice of ground or second floor. We took the ground floor to avoid the stairs as there are no elevators. There are several buildings and the entire property is heavily landscaped. It was obviously well taken care of as the landscaping was like a garden. It also muffled the sound from the adjacent freeway so that we didn't even notice it. We had room 114 almost adjacent to the pool area and facing the inner courtyard so we don't know if other rooms on the outside had road noise, but we didn't hear a thing. There were a lot of little things that set this apart. Two water bottles in our room on the first day with a note telling us that they were complementary, high quality bath and toiletry items, cut-tips and cotton balls, etc. (Items we rarely see in any hotel.) Parking is a bit limited, but we always found a spot close to our room. Because of the wedding, we didn't use the pool or other amenities and actually spent little time in our room. They have bikes that they rent out and we would have loved to have had time to use them to ride to the beach areas. Next time! The complementary hot breakfast was probably the best we have experienced in variety and quality of offerings especially in fresh fruit. They have multiple cooked to order items and we tried multiple things and all were excellent. In addition they have a well stocked continental breakfast selection. You can eat inside or out. The buffet and open kitchen staff were all outstanding. We just enjoyed being around them. The property is actually in Santa Barbara for all practical purposes. We were never more than 5-10 minutes from any activities that took place in multiple locations and access was easy. The only inconvenience, not necessarily a negative, was that front desk clerk on check-in apparently (that is our assumption) only coded our door key until Sunday. So when we came back to change at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday we couldn't get into our room and had to go to the front desk to have our key re-coded. From comments made at check in, they seem to have had some problems with door keys so there may be another issue at play here. We would definitely stay here again and can highly recommend it.
