“Awesome food and excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012 via mobile

The free breakfast here is fantastic. The rooms are nice and so is the staff. I really felt so welcome here. There's also free Wi-Fi which was actually pretty fast and the TV channel selection is good. I am actually looking forward to staying here the next time I am out in Goleta.

We own a beautiful home In Sonoma County in the Russian River area. So travel choices for us must meet a standard at least equal to the luxury and comforts we enjoy at home. Whenever we travel to Southern California, we stay only @ Pacifica Suites while traveling to the Santa Barbara area. The greeting staff in Reception, the meticulous Hawaiian accent grounds, pools and landscaping are all exemplary. The custom cooked hot breakfast is excellent, as well as the professional breakfast staff, served in the lovely breakfast room, complete with a view of the lush grounds, is a particularly unique yet cozy option, offering the feel of a " home away from home" . Communication with the staff overall,is always amiable and informative. Raising the windows to experience the aroma of the nearby Pacific Ocean is also a welcome alternative to the standard forced air offered in most 5-star hotels. We have found the living room suite, separate from the bedroom, offers that much needed family community space. All in all, Pacifica Suites satisfies all of our "needs" in one of the most luxurious yet comfortable travel accommodations available.

Room Tip: We always try to book the top room floor, Suite 2oo,corner suites offer a great view, but most are e...

The GOOD - very friendly and helpful staff, i.e., front desk & maintenance
Manager's reception in afternoon - complimentary wine & cheese, sodas, cheese and crackers served in nice environment in attractive room off the lobby.
Beautiful setting among lots of trees and flowers; lemon grove across the street
Very clean & spacious suite
2 robes in the closet as well as iron and ironing board
Small refrigerator in suite; microwave available upon request
Attractive lobby
Complimentary breakfast
1 computer with internet connection in the lobby -- not sure about WiFi in the suites.
Convenient to downtown Santa Barbara
Also convenient to to nearby grocery stores and several restaurants including a Denny's... one DOES have to go on the other side of the Interstate but front desk staff will provide directions if you doesn't have access to a GPS system.
Front desk will provide a written history of the historic house on the property and will let guests visit the 1st floor if the house is not in use. It's used for various meetings and events.

The BAD - * air conditioning in 1st room assignment was broken could not be repaired without new part. Another guest had the same problem but their AC was able to be repaired. We were immediately offered new suite assignment on same floor -- we moved. Suite was still HOT although not as hot as 1st suite. We opened the windows at night only to discover there are no screens on the windows and we were on the first floor. (Felt a bit insecure sleeping at night)
Unsure WHY housekeeping had not noticed the problem and reported it to Maintenance or Front Desk before suite was assigned.
We left curtains & shutters closed during the day so room would not get hot as windows faced the west.... only to discover when we returned in the evening that Housekeeping had opened curtains and shutters... so suite was hot all over again.
* Housekeeping only left 1 washcloth & 1 handtowel on 2nd day. (perhaps the intent was to return with more later on in day.) Our request for more around 10 p.m. when we returned to the suite was responded to immediately.
Small closet and only one rack on which to place luggage.
We had initially requested on our reservation an upstairs suite overlooking the pool & garden area. However, we were assigned suite on 1st floor... in 1st bldg where many people walked by on their way to the breakfast area--- therefore, minimal privacy.
*Appearance of room is rather bland... mostly tan, beige and yellow tones. Stayed here 2 years ago, and there appears to have been no change in decor.

We've talked about whether or not we would stay here again upon a return to Santa Barbara. However, the bottom line is that we've found no 2 room suites in the area with comparable rates.

The owners of the property are to be commended for their preservation of the wonderful Historic House on the property as well as the outbuildings. Not many people go to the effort to restore and maintain historic properties. This definitely adds to the ambience of the setting.

Room Tip: Request a room on the upper level (2nd floor) with balcony overlooking the pool and garden area. Mi...

We traveled to Santa Barbara with a party of 5 including 3 teenagers. We chose this hotel due to the suite option as we had 2 girls & 1 boy. Girls slept on the pull out couch, so it worked out fine. The beds were comfortable, but only doubles, so my wife & I were a bit tight as we're used to a king. Queens would make this an Excellent rating.

Only about a 10 minute drive to downtown, with plenty of dining choices nearby.
Pool is heated and the hot tub was HOT! (nice for a change!)

The managers reception was great as well. Plenty of wine choices, but as I'm a beer drinker, Bud & Bud Light aren't quite up to my tastes.

Breakfast cooked to order was great & for the 5 of us at least a 40 dollar value!

Rooms have balconies/patios and there are lovely amenities, such as happy hour and breakfast cooked to order. Easy-going, friendly, & competent staff. Property is very near UCSB, near enough to Santa Barbara, Solvang, beaches and a casino. Close to freeways but still peaceful, with room to walk and bike.

This hotel is misrepresented in many ways: it is NOT in Santa Barbara. It is a few miles out of town, in Goleta. It is NOT a bed and breakfast. It is a mediocre motel with a mediocre breakfast and mediocre evening wine and snacks.

The reviews on this site are inaccurate and I wonder whether they're fraudelent. This is not a higher-end Santa Barbara hotel.
