“Beautiful Country Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2005

I just returned from my stay at the Glen Ellen Inn. This was a great find. The Inn has 6 cottages behind their restaurant. The town of Glen Ellen is very quaint and in an excellent central location to tour the wineries in Sonoma or Napa. The cottages are unassuming from the front, but the owners have done a beautiful job decorating. My room overlooked a beautiful creek that had a view of a small brick bridge. The room was very clean and the queen bed comfortable. The room size was not large, but adequate. The room could be improved if they added more places to hang clothing. I enjoyed using the shower. You were able to push a button and turn the shower into a steamroom. The cottages did not have a place for breakfast, but the owners provided fruits and pastries fresh each day in your room. There was a very nice breakfast place across the street and another option was a food market a block away. I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely return. This Inn was perfect and the price right. I would not have tried this Inn if not for the positive trip advisor reviews.

We just got back last week from a 2 day trip and did not want to leave. We were on a 40th birthday bash with 6 couples so we took up all the cabins. All were wonderful with big tubs, fireplaces, porches and a cool courtyard where we all gathered to drink wine and watch the creek go by. It is also next to a GREAT market where we bought TONS of food. You can't beat the restaurant there. Chris is a wonderful chef and even made us a birthday cake! Stay here!

Just returned from a wonderful stay in Sonoma County wine country and am so happy that we discovered the wonderful cottages behind the Glen Ellen Inn in Glen Ellen, CA. While the restaurant is well known and frequently recommended for it's creative (and delicious) California "fusion" cooking, the "secret cottages" are a relatively new addition. The six cottages are nestled alongside a very pretty creekside wooded area behind the restaurant. We stayed in #5 but peeked in the others. All have the feel of intimate master suites, complete with a comfy queen-sized bed, a jaccuzi tub for two, a heavenly steam shower, gas fireplace, ceiling fan, lots of windows and cable TV (if you need that in such a gorgeous setting). Each cottage has a private entrance with outdoor seating areas where you can enjoy your surroundings, sip a glass of wine or an early morning cup of coffee. Snacks and drinks (for breakfast or as great picnic add-ons) are provided, and each room also has a coffee maker and a hair dryer. If you want a great, extremely convenient home base while touring Sonoma wine country, you can't find a better spot. Pricing is also VERY reasonable considering what most lodging costs in the area..and you get a lot of bang for your buck here! Finally, our host Karen was accessible, friendly and helpful. I almost hesitate to write this review so I can keep this wonderful find to myself! : )
