“Tranquil, romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013 via mobile

I agree with the reviews already posted. This is a top notch facility located on a quiet, lush hillside. The checkin was friendly and efficient - a bottle of Ravenswood Zin was open and available to guests in the lobby. The rooms were super - modern clean lines with soft muted colors. The bathroom has a large double sink and glass-enclosed shower. After dinner we returned to the hotel, put on the house-supplied bathrobes and wandered down to the lovely spa which was enjoyable even in a light rain. We haven't had the breakfast yet but are looking forward to a gourmet meal in the morning.

We were very pleased to stumble on to this Glen Ellen gem, the hotel has been open for less than a year and we were more than happy to give Olea a try, from the moment we walked in we were greeted by friendly professional staff, check in was a breeze, we were shown the room a very cozy upscale cottage with a gas fireplace we could not wait to fire up, we are frequent traveler's i can't say enough how much i appreciate it when a hotel leaves a few snacks complementary to the guest's staying there, and welcoming our little dog with out a pet deposit, we have not stayed at countless hotels because they have a no dog policy or an outrageous pet deposit, our last one was 100.00. the next incredible surprise was the 5 star breakfast, they have there own in house chef and one beautiful professional kitchen, we were blown away by the presentation and the quality of food being served, i am attaching the menu and a picture of our breakfast, all in all one of our best finds we highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the wine country, there are also 3 great restaurants within 4 block's of hotel.

Room Tip: Defiantly try the cottages or room 5 they all have fireplaces.

Room Tip: We just ask to see a room before we rent. You can't go wrong on any of the rooms. It's. A br...

We have travelled a lot and are always thrilled when we can find somewhere worth recommending to friends and certainly Olea is worth a visit! The location in super quiet Glen Ellen is perfect and all the reviews mentioning the great service are true! They have really nailed all the details and genuinely make you feel glad you stopped with them....we stayed in a cabin and it was a great spot...right by the lovely gardens and hot tub...the breakfast was amazing and reminiscent of a much more expensive resort we stayed at years ago very close by...we will try very hard to get back and stay longer next time! Be sure to borrow a flashlight if you take the very short walk to town for dinner....oh...almost forgot to mention the bed...absolutely amazing!!!

I can only echo what everyone else has written about Olea - they are superb from start to finish. From check in to the stellar gourmet breakfast to free wine to evening dessert to check out. Every single aspect of Olea was delightful. The "customer service" is excellent - they aim to please and are successful.. Chris & Kent were the ultimate in "let's make them happy."

The breakfasts are a 20 on a scale of 10; as a seasoned hotel traveler(s), one doesn't always expect a lot from a breakfast - but not only did the Olea breakfasts meet our expectations, it exceeded them - the chef(s) are artists - the breakfasts at Olea were better than some high end restaurant dinners that are supposed to be good! And they make the best scones in the entire world - bar none - truly the best scones on earth (at least until I find better ones, which will be difficult).

The rooms are small, but exceedingly charming - we stayed in a cottage and the high ceilings, the decor, the bath, and the outside sitting area were/are delightful.

As fairly seasoned travelers to California Wine Country who have been to at least 30 different hotels, inns and B&B's, we can say that the Olea is at the very top and not to be missed. It is superb, excellent, stellar, and any other synonym for breathtaking, excellent, marvelous, outstanding one can think of.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing.

I am not a "go back" person, because life is just to short for repeats, but this exceeded our expectations.
We booked a bargain midweek rate on Snique Away as an overnight stop prior to a four day, three night backpacking trek on the Point Reyes National Seashore. From the moment we arrived we were delighted with the hotel and especially charmed by Kent, the host at check-in.
It felt like we had been reunited with old friend!
We had booked a king bed and our friends a queen, but they were upgraded to a king due to a cancellation. The rooms are very contemporary with beautiful bathrooms, heated floors, pillow top mattresses and very soft linens. Flat screen TVs with high def were very nice. Free movie library with games books and magazines in living room/lobby. Wine and beverages were offered on arrival, and apparently at 8:30 guests are offered more wine and complimentary dessert, but we missed out on this as our dinner reservations were at 8:15 which Kent managed to snag for us at the last minute @ The Star.
Breakfast is lovely and top notch " California cuisine". We had rosemary muffins with pumpkin jam, fresh fruit and crusted poached eggs with sauce and veggies. Muffins, scones and other pastries were also available. All this is served in lovely sunroom.
One nice option here is dogs are welcome. We had left ours at home, but will remember this next time!
Other surprise is the hot tub is available for use 24/7 with robes supplied!
My only suggestions are: If you walk into Glen Ellen after dark be very careful along the road.
Seems all the locals ignore the speed limit and there are no side walls! Wear light clothing or take flashlights, better yet drive.
Also rooms facing the back are quieter for light sleepers and have little pea gravel patios.

Room Tip: Rooms in back are quietest.

Absolutly the most lovely, warm and welcome property. Peaceful, charming, perfect romantic getaway. Family run and it shows in every little detail. from start to finish! Chef cooks up an amazing inclusive breakfast made from local fruits, vegetables, eggs and dairy. Worth every penny! Soul melting experience in wine country. We will be back!
