“good & poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Our neighbours were quite noisy so at a certain moment in time we called the front desk. Well let us put it like this: this person requires some training how to handle customers.
On the other hand: the next morning the lady in charge of the breakfast was very helpful, taking care of our children and serving us tasty waffles

“Great rooms, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

The staff was very friendly, courteous, professional and helpful. They had just made freshly baked cookies, a nice treat after being on the road for 2 hours. Check-in was a breeze and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice my room was (King Bed, Non-Smoking). My sisters and mom rented the Family Suite which has 2 Queens/Full Bath in one room, and 1 Queen/Full Bath in an adjoining room. It was a great set-up and the hotel arranged for our two rooms to be across the hall from one another. The hotel shares a parking lot with Black Bear Diner, where we had a late dinner the first night. Decent diner food, good service, but a long wait. It is at least convenient for those times when you don't want to get in your car to hunt for food. The hotel is actually considered a motel because the accommodations are detached from the main office & breakfast area, where they serve the complementary expanded continental breakfast each morning. It is a very cramped room and the food is good enough if you want something quick and simple. For a good hot breakfast, walk to BB Diner or drive to Mimi's Cafe, one exit away. I do have two minor complaints: 1) The swimming pool was very dated and walking barefoot on the pool deck brought thoughts of athlete's foot to mind as I noticed all the dirt and mold in the old tile. The water was really cold, prob about 60 degrees, but the kids didn't mind it. 2) The milk which I bought for my daughter, turned sour after 24 hours in the room refrigerator even though it was at the MAX setting. It just couldn't get cold enough. So my daughter didn't get her milk at bedtime and when she woke up. Overall, though, a very good experience. We would definitely come back because the rooms were so clean, comfortable and nice, and the staff was very pleasant. Lastly, we forgot my daughter's baby pillow, which housekeeping turned into the office. The office returned my phone call the next morning and dropped it in the mail. Awesome customer service.

Room Tip: Our room was right across from the ice dispenser. It got a little noisy at times, but closing my ba...

“Gotta love the smell of garlic - really nice property in Gilroy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Best Westerns can be iffy - you never know what you might get. We were pleasantly surprised at this property in Gilroy. Stop in Gilroy only if you love garlic and onions ! The smell permeates the town. This BW was very nice. We had a nice big ground floor King room 122A with a little patio. There's a nice pool and hot tub and sauna which we took advantage of. And one of the best motel breakfasts ! The staff in the hotel were very nice & friendly, including the breakfast lady. Good hot food, and pretty good coffee, including eggs and breakfast meats. Property is nicely decorated and maintained. And there's a Black Bear Diner right next door. Only negative is that of the three gates to get to pool area, key only worked in one of them.

Room Tip: We had ground floor room 122 A and it was nice.

“Third time here and it was MUCH better than before!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We got a discounted room at the last minute (bestwestern.com and we got the AAA rate), and for the price of a regular room, we got a top floor room with a fireplace and new features! We felt like we were in a 4 star hotel! The breakfast is good (and free), and the pool had toys in it. The hot tub is a good size as well. We love this place!

Room Tip: The top floor has the fireplace (gas). They are very romantic. There are lots of restaurants surro...

“My home away from home...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

I have stayed at some pretty expensive hotels for business and for pleasure all across the U.S. I have my choice of where to stay as my company is paying for it. Over the years I have recognized that Best Westerns are a high quality and comfortable choice. They are affordable and consistent in accomodations and have a favorable quality to prices ratio. I just spent two business days at the Forest Park Inn in Gilroy. I did stay in the "executive suite" which was very nice with a fireplace, jacuzzi tub, very large balcony and overall very nice decor. The bed was very comfortable and most of all, everything was very clean and roomy. I did not run across anything that did not function properly. The prople at the front desk and the lady who ran the breakfast area were all first class, were friendly and more than willing to do anything they could to make my stay a good one. I have another business trip planned to Gilroy next month and I will certainly stay here again. I may even get the same room. Thanks, Best Western!

Room Tip: Parking is more plentiful at the very rear of the hotel.
