We were three adults and two children and we hungered for something we remembered from our Honolulu vacation, so we thought we would give The Local Place a try. Although this listing here says it is in Gardena, the little free menu lists their address (same street address) is actually in Torrance. No big deal, of course. We three adults each got a different entree with three selections and we shared with the kids. My wife had the LauLau and that had pork in it. In the combination dinner that she ordered was pork, as well, so we were able to try in both ways. Greasy, but flavorful. My fried chicken (Hawaii style) was a complete disappointment. The sauce on the Teriyaki chicken tasted as if it far too much sugar in it . . .calling it "sugar chicken" would be a better description. All in all, I cannot say we loved the dinner. Now, the desserts are another thing. They looked wonderful in the glass case, and my wife loved the coconut "stick". This is a casual place, and maybe we just ordered the wrong things.
