“Nice clean rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2008

This hotel was very clean and quiet with newly updated rooms and friendly staff. We were in a suite which was worth the extra money. The rest of our party were in regular rooms. The pool was very nice and even after a big windstorm very clean the next morning. We booked 4 rooms through West Jet 6 months in advance knowing that we would have run of house rooms. We were disappointed that none of our requests for bed type or location were respected even though I called a week before to confirm. The hotel is a long walk from Disney even for active people (we did walk twice) and the Anaheim Transit (ART) did not run nearly as frequently as advertised. We waited 45 minutes twice for buses that are supposed to run every 20 minutes. There is no posted schedule so you can not plan to be at the stop. We felt this made this hotel less favorable as a Disney hotel. If you plan to drive to Disney this would be a great choice, it is out of the Disney rush with several good restaurants close by.

THE MAID LEFT THE DOOR TO OUR ROOM OPEN!!!!! We returned from Disneyland at about 1:30 a.m. to find our room door propped open by the deadbold arm!

Anything positive we may have had to say is rendered completely irrelevant next to this inexcusable, unacceptable failure.

However, I feel at leave to add a few additional negative comments.

One: The air conditioner drained it's condensation into the room, which created a virtual swamp in the rug. Every time we walked near the air conditioner, our feet squished in the boggy carpet. I let the front desk know, and they told me to put a towel on the floor, and that maintenance would look at it later. One can only wonder how many guests have heard this before.

Two: One morning at around 10:00 a.m., we were disturbed by a knock at our door. It was a man asking to be let in to our room so that he could "re-program our clock radio." Needless to say, we did not let him in, and immediately called the front desk to determine if this was even legitimate. Alarmingly, at first, no one seemed to know anything about it. After an hour or so, they figured out that yes, someone from the hotel was disrupting paying guests in their rooms for something as innane and non-urgent as the reprogramming of a clock radio (which, by the way, was already set to the correct time of day). Couldn't this errand be completed after a guest has left their room, say, during a change-over or while the maid is cleaning?

Three: The so-called hot breakfast is awful. They served slices of something that resembled flavorless kielbasa along with soggy, microwaved french toast sticks. It was honestly inedible.

I have never in my life, throughout countless hotel stays, ever been so disgusted with the service in a hotel. Leaving the door open to a guest's room is such an egregious violation of the trust that one places in the hotel that it defies understanding.

What a great surprise the Hampton Inn was! After an 8 hour drive all my daughters and I wanted was to check in and head to Disneyland. Approaching the front desk, we were worried it was too early to check in but in the friendly staff told us there was a room available, if we didn't mind the 1st floor. Heck no, it was convienent and the location was perfect. After walking into our room, we tried to turn on the a/c but it was not working, we called the front desk and were told the would have someone from maintenace come right away to fix it. We left for Disneyland and when we came back we had a nice cool room.

The breakfast was not a sit down restaurant style, but a great variety of either take with you or sit down food. The hot breakfast items were not fancy but we grabbed muffins, fruit, and yogurt. There were always eggs, one morning had sausage gravy the other had ham slices along with bagels, breads, and a large variety of cereal.

Beds were comfy, new furniture and a flat screen tv. We slept great, the rooms were quiet and our room was by the pool and hot tub, so I had expected some noise.

Be sure to buy a Anaheim Rapid Transit pass if you are going to Disneyland, you can come and go without worry about parking or driving. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family. It was a great bargain and exceeded my expections.

Stayed at the Hampton Inn Anaheim on a California vacation stop at Disney/California Adventure.

This is a very clean hotel located around 1.5 miles or about a 20 to 25 minute walk to Disney. There is also shuttle service available for $3 per day.

The hotel staff was excellent from the front desk to the maid service to the breakfast staff. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. They offer a great hot breakfast which includes waffels, eggs, sausage, and more. For lunch or dinner, you can find a Red Robin and an Outback Steakhouse about a block away.

If visiting Disney, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I've stayed at other Hampton Inns which were tons better, so I expected more out of this one, but I was a little disappointed and have a few gripes. Good points were the beds were comfortable and room was clean and employees/staff were helpful. Negative: 1) Bathroom did not have a fan. When I called the front desk to report it wasn't working they said it was intentional...there are no fans in the bathroom. I believe circulation in a bathroom is a must! 2) They advertised 'full breakfast' however, all it is is a glorifed continental breakfast. They sometimes served eggs and sausage, but both were gross to be honest. The pastries were old and cold. When they ran out they ran out even though it was 8am and breakfast ended at 10am. If in that area again I will most likely choose another hotel.

  • Liked — bed was very comfortable
  • Disliked — no fan in bathroom; breakfast was cheap and tasted horrible!

We (family of 2 adults, 2 kids) decided to go with a 2* hotel as we were visiting Disneyland and really only needed a place to sleep. The Hampton Inn fitted our requirements and exceeded our expectations.

Checkin was a breeze. Front desk service was polite and welcoming.

Our room was recently renovated and had new furniture. Our beds were most comfortable. The room included a microwave and a small refridgerator. You can easily buy food items from the Target that is close by on Harbor and Chapman St.

The complimentary breakfast had hot items and healthy items (i.e. fresh fruit and yogourt). This included breakfast saved us sooo much time in the morning. We didn't have to look for a place to have breakfast, wait to be seated, wait to pay, etc.

Thurs-Sun offered free pizza/movie/popcorn nights. Every night, there were fresh cookies offered to guests. Drinks were available free all day. Parking was free. Wow. (After years of staying at the Hyatt Orange County, where they would offer nothing and would continue to nickel & dime you until you checked out, the Hampton Inn's generosity in service, smiles, freebies and goodies were such a nice surprise.)

My 9-year-old especially enjoyed coloring at the breakfast table (this nice lady would come around and distribute crayons and coloring sheets), and after she finished, the nice lady would post her coloring sheet on the wall of fame.

Loved having the coin laundry facilities on the 2nd and 3rd floors. You can buy detergent in the little shop next to the front desk in the lobby.

The Hampton Inn was fantastic and surpasses a lot of the 3* or 4* hotels I've stayed in. The staff is less uptight and more friendly. We will return in the future.

  • Liked — The complimentary hot breakfast, the service, free parking, clean rooms and well-managed breakfast area.
  • Disliked — Some of the public areas (hallways, elevators) need to be vacuumed more often.

We stayed 5 nights. Having stayed at other hotels in the Disneyland area, we wanted something a little farther away from all the hubbub. We stayed on the 7th floor and it was very quiet.

The breakfast was the standard Hampton Inn breakfast--it satisfied our hungry 10 and 12 year old boys. The breakfast room was large and we never had a problem finding a table.

The hotel is not really within walking distance of Disneyland but the front desk said there was a shuttle available. We just drove our own car and parked in the Disney garage. The hotel is easily accessible from I-5 and CA-57 freeways.

The pool was nice and never really crowded. There is a small kiddie pool (1 foot deep) and a hot tub.

The staff was accommodating and courteous. One of the employees visited each table at breakfast and offered tips for visiting the Disney parks.

A couple of downsides: during the morning the elevators were very busy and it seemed a lot of the traffic was the housekeeping staff moving from floor to floor. Also during the evenings, the Embassy Suites next door sometimes hosts events that filled up much of the parking lot but there was usually parking to the west of the hotel.
