There are hundreds of Vietnamese restaurants in Westminster, but only a few that really stand out for the most unique and memorable culinary experience. Brodard is one of them. (By the way, it is NOT a French bakery as indicated here on TripAdvisor.) This is a very popular restaurant among the Vietnamese expatriates living in southern CA, it’s always crowded (reservation is recommended for party of 4 or more), could be a long wait for table during lunch or dinner time! The large dinning room is packed with families enjoying their meals, quite noisy, and the service can be chaotic and brisk at times. Waiters and waitresses literally run from table to table, balancing big trays of food and drink precariously on their shoulders! We went here for dinner during a business trip after hearing so much about their famous ‘nem nuong’ rolls. Grilled pork (cooked on sugar cane skewers) wrapped in thin rice paper with lettuce, mint, garlic chive, cucumber, and pickled carrot/daikon radish. So simply prepared yet so tasty, with incredible aroma and flavor, perfectly paired with the fantastic sweet and spicy dipping sauce! We devoured a total of 12 ‘nem nuong’ rolls ($6/4 rolls per order) and also had two other special-of-the-house dishes: the Lotus Stem Salad (delicate lotus flower stems topped with shrimp and pork, garnished with traditional Vietnamese herbs, chili peppers, roasted peanuts and fried cassava chips, $12.75) and the Grilled Beef Salad (grilled beef tenderloin over lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion, more herbs and served with a tangy lemongrass vinaigrette, $12.75). Amazing salads, we loved it! It’s the pure essence trademark of Vietnamese cuisine: fresh, simple, and delicious. Highly recommended.
